11. If you want people to take you seriously, you have to start by taking them seriously. |
|
Surely you didn't think that your array of mocking poll choices would lead to any sort of valuable discussion.

why act upset at an answer you receive?

It is a serious question. But does the OP really think that anybody will honestly answer?

12. It is a serious question indeed. |
|
It's unfortunate the OP chose to provide unserious answers as a means of starting the conversation.

Those were good honest questions.
You think you can do better? Have at it. Otherwise you are just being intellectually dishonest.

16. I agree, it is a good question. The answers provided, however, are not. |
|
Edited on Tue Dec-08-09 01:10 PM by Occam Bandage
One is a declaration the OP admits is "absurd," one is a declaration of slavish devotion to a politician, one is a declaration of cowardice, and is a one declaration of willful blindness. To suggest that these constitute an honest attempt to understand a foreign mindset is true intellectual dishonesty.

Why would you expect anyone would go out of their way to provide one?

22. I am hoping to provoke people into taking a moment to reflect on their position |

and then honestly answer the question. You can use my style as an excuse to dance away, or you can give me your good reason.

Are you getting the reflective, introspective responses you claim you're hoping for? You've been on this site long enough to have seen from experience that mockery inspires defensiveness, and respect inspires reflection.

I believe most supporters either haven't given it enough thought, or don't want to expose their true feelings. You've schooled me enough I think, please contribute an answer (if you have one).

6 replies, unknown number of unrecs, but only two answers. One absurd: "the war on terror can be won", and one promised but not delivered: "other"

...because I don't have to start one to be in one. In such cases, fighting back is correct and justifiable.
I oppose any war started by my country except where it is near-certain that we are going be attacked imminently. Otherwise, settle it peacefully.
