Just needed to vent/rant about fear and such:

[The Straight Story]

Fear - it sells. From terrorism to end of the world (Jesus coming back, ice age, warming, terrorism, Asteroids, 2012, etc).

It seems nowadays that we are all the (potential) enemies of each other.

Solution? Control over others (those we fear) and information about those we fear.

All the while the people doing most the killing and polluting (govt's with their wars/etc and big businesses) are the ones controlling the laws and the direction they want us to go.

You and me - we keep getting labeled as the potential enemies of the planet and each other. Eavesdrop on our calls/emails, while those in power avoid us being able to see what they do in private (national security and all you know), blame the economic downturn on people who bought homes and then lost their jobs and cannot make the payments (and then bail out the banks/investment firms that speculated too much with funny money).

The end is near, trust your government and the rich to save us by controlling us and guilting us into following laws/ideas they won't conform to themselves.

Health care? Dying from lack of coverage/etc? You can wait on single payer and such (don't want to hurt the profits of big companies that pay our politicians). Climate change? It is your fault - so you need to adjust your life (while we use hundreds of gallons of fuel per soldier, the rich buy 'offsets', and all those bombing runs - well it is only to save you!).

You and me? We need to sacrifice more, we need to spend more, we need to volunteer more in service to our country/community, we need to save more,.....etc and so on - while investors and big corps and government are immune to making sacrifices/changes (Unless we can put through changes which don't harm them). They have their health care, their homes, plenty of money, yachts, don't live paycheck to paycheck, pour tons of pollutants into the air which affects our health - and still somehow it is WE the general public who are the problem.

And we - well we won't be the ones getting meetings with the senate or the president, we will be the ones that after our leaders meet with the wealthy that our leaders will have an address to on TV/Radio asking us to accept the bailouts of the rich, the wars, to accept health care without single payer or public option, etc - all out of FEAR that what we want and need is bad for....corporations? Cause what we want is not bad for us, we want to lift up each other and help one another.

Somehow though, that seems bad and we are made to feel selfish for wanting a return on our investment...
