Poll question: Do You Like & Attend Ceremonies?
Right now, the country is awash in ceremonies, from pardoning the turkey to the lighting of the local/WH Xmas/Holiday Tree to the ceremonies and rites that the churches offer annually to the bestowing of end-of-the-year awards for selling the most widgets.

Do you find this kind of stuff interesting/necessary? Do you make a point to go out of your way to attend such ceremonies? Who, exactly, are these events targeted at?

1. For the kids the school ceremonies were good. The local government stuff was tedious.

3. I don't care what it is: if I don't want to be there, I don't go.
It's a freedom that I enjoy and indulge.

4. I think it adds a sense of community
My brother has no idea what his neighbors names are

5. Most of our ceremonies are irrelevant...
Most of our traditions are silly at best, degrading and dangerous at worst.
Our culture is on the skids, and nothing means anything any more.
Once we get through the coming catastrophe, we will build new traditions and eventually they will end up being silly as well.
It's all part of the cycle of life...

6. I'll go if someone/something I know/love
is being honored/pilloried. For example, yesterday I watched (wonders of modern live TV) the ceremonial opening of the new gallery at the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, Texas from start to finish. I have loved Fredericksburg and the old Nimitz Museum all my life, and am very happy for the people of the town and the veterans to have this world-class museum. Holiday stuff, eh, not so much. Ceremonies have to be personally meaningful for me to be even remotely interested.
