Because certainly at the Dawning of the Age of Obliviousness the powers that be have been nightmarishly asleep.

6. Here in Australia, they've been calling it The Noughties
There was always some music countdown of the "Top 6000 hits of the Noughties" on television. Took me the longest time to figure out what the hell they were talking about.
