Tiger shedding advertizers |
|
From @DylanRatigan on Twitter: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=a6dOr_Gky7YM&pos=9Excerpt: Dec. 8 (Bloomberg) -- No advertisements featuring Tiger Woods have run on prime-time television broadcast networks or 19 cable channels since late last month, after reports of his extramarital affairs, according to data from Nielsen Co.
The last prime-time ad featuring the 33-year-old golfer was a 30-second Gillette Co. spot on Nov. 29, according to New York- based Nielsen. Woods also was absent from ads on a number of weekend sports programs, including NFL games, Nielsen said.
“Last weekend there wasn’t any advertisement during those games,” said Aaron Lewis, a spokesman at Nielsen. That didn't take long.

2. He's got plenty of money to live on, though. |
|
He's set for life even if he never golfs again professionally or has endorsements.

Our puritan-like society is a JOKE.
Do our role models have to be perfect? That's insane.
Nobody is perfect and that includes Tiger Woods.

attempting to make an "example" out of him.
If only they could have kept the pressure up on Sen. Ensign! But no, that might serve a public good, and we couldn't have that!

12. It's over for Eldrick. |
|
The ESPN afternoon sports show people referred to him today as a "creepy loser." The yuppie boy and girl also indicated that "never before has one so high fallen so low, so quickly." They're young. They don't remember Nixon.
It really didn't take long. Once the scandal broke, Corporate America started to erase the airwaves of any association with sport's first billionaire player.
No matter if the ads will never again run for the guy, he's glad he got paid up front. In fact, the only person more happy about that than Tiger Woods is his likely soon-to-be-ex-wife and her extended family.

As in: Acme Fireplugs -- they stand up even to a Cadillac SUV!
Or: Punishing Putters -- they're not just for golf anymore!

While I don't condone what he did, unless you're the one married to him it's really none of your business (and I'm not talking about you personally Ruby). The media love to see people torn down. I'm sure there are folks jumping with glee at the thought of Tiger losing endorsements -- as if it has some impact on their own lives. When did it become "creepy" for one adult to have consensual sex with another? What happened to simply reporting the news without adding one's own editorial? This society is addicted to drama and if there is none they'l make some. I heard this morning a 'news reporter' insinuating that something violent may have happened to Elin's mom to send her to the hospital. No proof, but it makes for good drama.:eyes:
edited for typo.

Sorry if my post made it seem that way.
It seems like the media want to push this story until he loses everything so his ruin can be the next big story.

17. Same thing happened with a CNN anchor |
|
Richard Quest, a British economics/Business anchor from CNN London was found in Central Park, NY, one night, according to the report seen here in Europe, wearing nothing but a string tied around his privates. He disappeared from CNN for a few months, but as the story never circulated for long, CNN took a shot and put him back on the air, and voilà, it's as if the whole thing never happened. I'm sure Woods is popular enough a figure to survive this--provided he keeps winning tournaments, of course.

20. He could have 60 mistresses for all I care because |
|
he is not like the republicans who run around and tout family values and marriage between a man and a woman, when most of them have a marriage between man and three or four women. But isn't it odd. When a man becomes a celebrity no matter how not good looking he is the woman fawn all over him. And when he is caught fifteen or twenty start coming forwarding saying the went out with him.

Edited on Tue Dec-08-09 07:34 PM by CrunchMaster
The media's new Weapon of Mass Distraction
OJ Michael Jackson Kobe Bryant
and Now Tiger.
Another "Black Guy Media Distraction" brought to you by the same Media Empire that convinced America that spending billions bombing Afghans to bits while Pakistan creates most of the world's terrorists was somehow the right thing to do.
Fix your eyes on the black guy cheating on his wife. Tiger is obviously the only sports figure in the world cheating on his wife. Stare and despair.
