4. I agree
It's as if we're stuck between buying a lemon that overheats going up hill and a lemon that won't shift out of third gear. But they know we're going to have to buy one or the other because we've got to get to work on Monday and they're the only dealer in town. :(

5. I feel like we're negotiating with a used car dealer...
who doesn't actually want to sell the car. He knows that it's the only car there is and we need a car. So he's going to continue fucking with us until we cave to his price.

I dunno yet - it's wait and see.

Also, the Dems may just be doing this to pass a bill which can later be modified in conference.

6. The public option was shuttled a couple of months ago when it stopped
being public and stopped being an option. So I don't consider the death of whatever was left there a bad thing. A real public option would be giving everybody the choice (option) of buying into a government (public) run insurance like Medicare and making sure that those who couldn't buy into it would get it according to their ability to pay for it. Whatever the corporate whores in Congress were talking about had nothing to do with that.

7. I would rather see Medicare expanded than a useless PO
Especially if it lowers in age every few years.

Faster path to 676 than a nominal Public Option, IMO.

Yes, it doesn't help a lot of people today, but it is the right path (from what I know tonight).
