Reno line forms 24 hours before Sarah Palin book signing
Edited on Wed Dec-09-09 12:13 AM by tonysam
People were preparing for an overnight wait Tuesday for Sarah Palin’s national book stop Wednesday night at the Reno Costco.

Store general manager Bob Tote said a line began to form at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday. He said 1,000 wristbands would be distributed after 9:30 a.m. for the signing scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Palin, the former Alaska governor and GOP vice presidential nominee, will sign copies of “Going Rogue” for people who have a Costco receipt for the book at the store at 2200 Harvard Way.

Members of the ProgressNow Nevada group Tuesday announced plans to hold a candlelight vigil outside the book signing to urge the passage of health care reform.

How crazy can people be, especially standing in line when the temperature is estimated to be 13 degrees for the low?

1. It was good that they waited there that long.

It gave normal people ample opportunity to drive by and see what unbelievably stupid people look like.

2. no shortage of brainless morans in the U.S.of A. unfortunately
hope they freeze their asses off, get pneumonia and then pray that Jesus magically pays their hospital bills. ( Don't laugh; well go ahead, but tomorrow I'll be working with a woman who was wearing a "Jesus is my health insurance " t -shirt the last time I saw her)

11. can't make this stuff up..well, you can, but as long as there are fundie republicans,
you don't have to. And this is a woman who barely makes enough money to keep a roof over her head ( but DOES have health insurance provided by the "socialist" government agency she works for).

26. that tshirt is from The Onion
Edited on Wed Dec-09-09 12:31 PM by BakedAtAMileHigh
It's parody. She's probably a very funny woman. They also sell a bumpersticker, quite popular here in CO, that says 'Jesus Is My Car Insurance".

It's a joke. Lighten up.

Here is the original Onion OpEd:
http://www.theonion.com/content/opinion/jesus_is_my_health_insurance

"I tell you, people these days have lost their faith. Everybody's turning to the television or drugs or the government to solve their problems, when they should be trusting in the Lord.

Why, just the other day I went to County General because my legs were giving me awful pains, and this nurse starting asking me questions about providers and what was my health care plan and wanting my insurance card so she could copy it. I said, "Child, I don't need all that fancy paperwork—not as long as I have Jesus in my heart."

3. Too bad she didn't come today,
and people would have stood in line in below zero conditions overnight and perhaps froze to death. It got only to about 15 above today.

4. Why am I not surprised
Reno 911 was only a slightly exaggerated portrayal of life in the World's Biggest Little Trailer Park.

14. I live in a trailer park. Nothing is wrong with that and it is cheaper
than paying a huge mortgage for a house.

10. 5 is the "official" temp reported at the airport
the thermometer outside my house is showing -2 already.

I have no idea why anyone would line up to see Palin. Let alone freeze your ass off for hours in order to do it.

Are those idiots frozen solid yet?

I don't think there's anything in the world that would make me go through something
like that. But the thought of them going through that for Failin makes me ROFLOL.

It's a crying shame you have to live amongst people like this.

FWIW I have to live in a red area. I can understand how you might feel.

23. It used to be much, much worse 25 years ago.
There was hardly a Democrat to be found in Washoe County. Last year it went something close to 2-1 in favor of Obama.

But there are many of these wingnut libertarian types in northern Nevada, though.

I wouldn't be surprised if Palin stiffs her admirers and doesn't show up tonight.

When told this most of the crowd refused to budge, thinking they would lose their place in line.
