The Iraq War drained attention from the war in Afghanstan. It did not pose a direct threat and 4367 people lost their lives
The problems did not go away while our wheels spun in Iraq and they only get bigger while we do nothing. So far we have only made bad things worse in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The unfinished business from 2002 will forever haunt us until we finish it and terrorists no longer have sanctuary there.

....many hundreds of thousands of people died in Iraq... not just 4367. Sorry, I hate to be a nag, but it bugs me when I hear people talking and writing in a way that implies that non--Americans are not people.
Other than that your analysis is spot on.
