Church Cross To Hide Cell Tower
Church Cross To Hide Cell Tower
100-Foot High Cross To Hide Equipment Inside

LAKE WORTH, Fla. -- An enormous white cross being constructed at Lake Worth church will also double as a cell phone tower.

Epiphany Lutheran Church executive director John Sasson said T-Mobile will hide equipment inside the 100-foot-high cross, which spans 30 feet. The installation of the structure began this week.

Sasson said the cross provides "advertising we would not have been able to afford," as well as some additional income. He said the cell phone company is leasing part of the church's property.

1. They Did The Same Thing Near Here...
A church nearby was remodeling and put a cellphone tower in their cross...beats having yet another eyesore tower sticking up in the area. Another company mounted a tower atop the lights at our local high school football field...in return for installing the lights and maintaining the stadium (including upgrades) and cash to the school district for the next 10 years. I have no problem with that.

Hell...most times when I use my cellphones I have to pray the call goes through or its not cut off...a little divine intervention might not be such a bad thing.

4. And the people in that church...
...will probably rail against "science" every chance they get!

I think the church should get taxed on that income. If the cell phone company had built the tower across the street on commercial property, that property owner would get taxed.

5. It depends if it is a taxable entity.
If the ASPCA across the street had a giant dog marquee and put a cellphone tower in it they would not be taxed.

But while driving around churches and their oversize crosses be sure to protect yourself.

8. Nothing says Jesus like having a cell phone tower stuck up your Ass...
Imagine the people in that church,
Sitting in the pews,
Listening to the word of god,
While they are Sexting.

10. will the cross have company logos on it too like in nascar?
it'd be a shame if they failed to pay the lease on their property. they might get converted into a T-Mobile outlet.

12. Was going to say something about a good way to hide an eyesore.
However a cross that size is an eyesore in its own right.
