Hatch just spilled the partisan beans to Ratigan and I hope this goes viral.
Ratigan asked him why they were so busy trying to create so many classes of people to received differing qualities of healthcare. Ole Hatch in defending not expanding to a single payer system stated that it would create "a bigger constituency for the Democrats." Please someone pull this out so that the crass partisan ploy of the Rs to screw people over can be highlighted. This has nothing to do with competition or government run health care and a lot to do with trying to keep intact what little remains of the R party.

voting cards..."oh no...here it is Mr. Chairman. I had just misplaced it."

Can you imagine how prosperous this country would be if we could just get rid of all republicans.

A one hour show following Mourning Joe. I rarely watch, but I do tend to like him more than other morning programs.

He was disgraceful - the bill is pretty much gutted and it still isn't good enough for him.

That's why compromising with these people is so pointless - no matter what you do, they'll squeal and bitch and smear Democrats.

Yeah, Hatch's admission needs to be out there for all America to think on.

Hey, America, the GOP would rather dink around and obstruct YOUR ability to get health care than risk taking care of you and seeing you vote D.

Sadly, too many won't get it.

17. I saw that too.
Single payer with costs brought in line with Medicare is the only way a mandate makes any sense. That would spread the risk over the ENTIRE pool of ALL citizens, and would make it very cheap for everyone (similar to Social Security deductions).

That USED TO BE the logic behind insurance anyway. (The biggest possible pool makes the percentage of claims smallest.)

Now though, health insurance doesn't cover anything, and banks don't lend. WTF? Both industries are fictitious services, which are only giant useless siphons in everyone's pocket. Both need to go, and be replaced with single payer and credit unions. Take all the profit out of it, and then the vultures will leave it.

The American public is just a cash cow for these goons. And then they pretend that WE aren't the source of THEIR wealth. Bull! It's theft pure and simple. That's what government is supposed to protect us from, not enable it.

Back to Hatch's comment though... he just admitted that if Dems were acting like Dems, they'd have plenty of votes. That's the truth too. It worked for FDR, and it would work now just the same.

Namely, doing anything and everything possible to obstruct any new initiatives championed by Democrats that have even the faintest possibility of succeeding and thereby generating broad public support. "NO MORE MEDICARES!" What's unusual about Hatch's remark is that he actually owned up to it.

39. It's the old "They'll destroy marriage!" tactic...
Edited on Wed Dec-09-09 10:58 PM by CoffeeCat
Remember when the Republicans droned on and on about gay marriage destroying the institution of marriage? They
warned that if gay marriage was legal--I'd want to divorce my husband and that there would be Crisco orgies in
all major cities.

Their arguments are nonsensical and fear based. These arguments are total baloney and they're only affective
at preventing change. Once the change happens--we all see how truly stupid and lie-based the arguments were
in the first place.

I'm in Iowa and we have gay marriage. The institution of marriage is just fine. So now--the Republican's
central argument against gay marriage is obliterated and they're revealed for the fools that they are.

The Republicans are all about lying and scaring people into falling in line. Same with healthcare. Their
arguments against the public option are all fear-based bs--death panels, rationing, etc. The minute we have
a public option or single payer--they Republicans know that their sky-is-falling screeching will be viewed
as the bunk that it is.

That's why our ideas can't win--especially in healthcare. They know a Dem plan would be successful and it would
be popular. They also know that they would look like fools for scaring people about things that never happened.

At this point--it's not about what's best for the country--the Republicans are only thinking about themselves.
