So far it's really exciting. Lots of volunteers and a long line of patients. I am an escort.

Saw my doctor and several progressive friends.

Will post more as it develops!

3. This is just huge
Our convention center is very big and every inch of it is covered with medical treatment areas. I'm having a hard time holding back tears and I haven't even met any patients yet.

Damn. Is this the good ole USA or a third world country?

7. Will you do me a favor?
One of the other volunteers is passing around a book he wants us to sign for some radio guy named Michael Baisden. I've never heard of him. They want us to thank him. Who is he? Could you look him up?

8. here's a couple paragraphs from his "about" page:
But his proudest moment came on September 20, 2007, when he passionately and skillfully spearheaded the famous Jena 6 March in Jena, Louisiana. This historic and momentous occasion garnered tens of thousands citizens of all races to peacefully marched in support of six young men who have been unfairly treated by the justice system. In addition, he urged millions of listeners to wear black on September 20 in protest of unequal justice. The news traveled throughout the country, everyone wore black in support of the Jena 6, from college students of all races to corporate executives.

2008 was another historic year. In late January Michael endorsed Sen. Barack Obama in the democratic primary against Sen. Hillary Clinton. Sen. Obama ultimately won and went on to defeat Sen. John McCain in general election on November 4. Michael celebrated with over 4,000 fans at a watch party in Miami on election night. The Obama camp along with millions of listeners credited Michael with being one of the major forces behind this historic victory to elect the first African American to the Presidency of the United States.

14. Seeing lots of media
Doing interviews. A couple photographers walking around looking lost. Too many possible pictures I suppose.

One of my fellow volunteers and I bonded earlier. We're both Keith O fans. She just walked by me and asked about a couple local wingnut radio guys and wondered if they were here. I agreed they should be.

19. i can hardly believe this response to the article
on kansascity.com:
Was this funded by tax dollars? If so, then I just want to say you're welcome (in a condescending manner).

I don't care what is reported about how it was funded. I believe it was from tax money.
1. 24 year old college student dropped by mother's insurance. You are too old to still be on your mother's insurance. Did it come as a big surprise? No, it's standard policy. Get a job and get insurance. Even Home Depot offers insurance.
2. Factory worker laid off in August. Still not working? Bet tax money is feeding you too then. Get off your lazy A and deliver pizza's if that's what it takes. I hear home depot is hiring too.
3.37 year old bartender....enough said.

If people are too lazy to get out there and achieve something, then starve. Not my problem. sigh...

i'm speechless.

20. Oh that's run of the mill every day on that blog
You should have read the stuff they said when Dr Tiller was murdered.

One of the TV stations has some nasty comments too.

Didn't you KNOW?? YOU already HAVE healthcare at YOUR fingertips! WAKE UP, and Stop taking everything for granted that America has ALWAYS Done for you! This is p-r-e-c-i-s-e-ly what Truman Med. Ctr. is for! Everyone KNOWS this! It is LAW that NO ONE can be TURNED AWAY, because of their health needs! BTW, this is why God gave us BRAINS to use. It is the scammers and takers, and the illeg. immig. who are after all and expecting all of the freebies. Most people, and I'm sure that YOU were probably brought up with certain values, that you should be self-sufficient. This is exactly why America is going down the tubes. Those who look up to sports figures and Hollywood to be their 'role model', and the poor 'woa is me' attitude, had better start waking up. Jesus is coming, and He is WATCHING. And for those who say, 'WWJD'? Well....Jesus was NOT a pacifist, a weakling. He was filled with nothing but integrity and strength; Remember Him in the temple at the age of 12? Becuase they were conducting atrocities in God's House!

22. K&R for the thread, and in response to this asshat on kc.com...
just post back, your house burning down? Get out your garden hose. A crime committed against you? Investigate, arrest try and convict the criminal yourself. Got a bad pothole in your road? Get to filling it in. Tornado blow your trailer away? Tough shit. I wouldn't want my tax dollars going to something like helping out a loser like you so pick yourself up by your bootstraps and get to work.

23. LOL reminds me of a teabagger we met at our Billionaires rally
He claimed he didn't believe in socialized fire departments. So we asked him what he would do if his house caught on fire. He said "Oh, my neighbors will call the fire dept"
