The man made Health Care Reform a major issue. He raised it
to a number 1 priority. He set some pretty ambitious goals. He didn't achieve them. He got us something better than we have now and the foot is in the door for a public option down the line. I personally cannot think of any other person I would rather have in the WH and after 30 years of failure, I am happy we have taken the first step. So, those of you who are going to take the bat, the ball and the bases and leave the game, expect a complete regression if the evil men of the Republican Party step in and fill the void.

So flame me. It's colder than the last time I posted. :-)

1. Interesting idea. Obama raises the bar, goes farther than we've ever gone before
but doesn't hit his own mark. Then people call him a failure.

5. Absolutely! But successful people do that and they are not afraid
to come up short of the goal they set. We have not heard the end of this by a long shot.

2. Agree with your post
I haven't forgotten W and I know there is a HUGE difference between W and Obama.

3. he pitched the ball, and the Democrats hit themselves in the face with the bat, repeatedly
and he twisted the wrong arms. Instead of shitting on the progressives, he should have worked over the corrupt minority of blue dogs and DLCers.

4. Medicare started as nothing more than a tiny blip, from my understanding.
I would have liked more, but this is the first major step we've had in decades. We can expand and improve it, just like we did with Medicare.

7. The foot is in the door, I think. Things will never be the same and
the Insurance Industry and the Republicans know this. Get a few million folks on Medicare who tell their friends and family how good it is and bingo.

11. I still haven't read any news reports about Obama signing a health care bill.
Heck, I haven't even read any reports about what's actually in the supposed general agreement that keeps the process moving forward. OK, well, I've read lots of speculation, but nothing about the actual agreement.

So, I am very confused by threads like this.
