SFSU Students Take Over Building in Protest - my step-daughter is one of them
I couldn't be more proud!

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- A protest was held on the San Francisco State campus over budget cuts and fee increases Wednesday, with student organizers taking over the school’s business building.

It’s the week before finals at SFSU, and protestors say they didn’t want to let the semester go by without making some kind of statement on the recent fee increases brought on by California’s budget problems.

The 20 or so protestors inside the building donned masks and blocked the entrances to the building with desks and chairs, while another 30 protestors gathered outside.

Students tell KCBS that paying $2,300 to $2,400 in tuition next semester prices many working-class students out of a college education.

Meanwhile the campus has cancelled all classes normally held in the Business Building, telling students to head to the the Seven Hills and Tower Conference Centers to meet with their instructors if they have questions about scheduling.
"We really are waiting, and are anxious to hear from the students," said Campus spokeswoman Ellen Griffin.

Griffin says university police aren't getting confrontational with the protestors. They want to have a dialogue with the students, but until they make contact there's no way to know what the student demands are.

1. I've been keeping tabs on that --
very cool! SFSU has a good history of student protest -- good on those students for taking direct action. This kind of thing need to be happening all over the state.
