Reid (D-Nev.) was preparing to send a "manager's amendment" to the Congressional Budget Office for a cost analysis as early as Wednesday night. The package would wrap together all the perks, favors and other loose ends that must be resolved in Reid's quest to secure 60 votes for final passage.

The compromise came together Tuesday night as Democratic Senate negotiators struck a tentative agreement to drop the controversial government-run insurance plan from the bill, hoping that would remove a last major roadblock standing in the way of a final vote in the chamber."

be paid for with premiums, including subsidized-premiums for lower income people. This was true for Clinton's and Edward's plans, too.

You can't add provide regular health care to tens of millions of people who have been mostly going without, except by incurring significant costs that have to be paid for in some way. Obama never lied about that.

since I've seen a doctor. Looks like it is likely to be another 5 to 10 years with this clusterfuck of an idea.

Meaningful healthcare reform is my line in the sand. We have a sitting Dem President who has majorities in both the House and the Senate. If they can't fucking deliver something better than this then they better realize I ain't voting for them next time around. I think people need to understand the limitations on the office and I don't mind a little campaign rhetoric.

He might have added something like, "with the help of congress", but he didn't and that's ok.

I worked my ass off to help him get elected and I'm not one bit disappointed about it.

At some point I hope he'll come around to call congress on their unwillingness to get it together.

He did, after all, say "within my first term", not his first year.
