A very dangerous and radical manifesto--Part II--DKos
snip

Following is a very straightforward proposal about a course of action, which I believe is the equivalent of really fighting back against the bullying and exploitation of the American people by the Plutocratic regime now in charge in the United States of America. This is the second part to my previous diary: A Very Dangerous And Radical Manifesto - Part I.

I'll start by stating that in no way am I advocating disengagement from political activities or social activism. Whatever it is the reader is doing to bring about needed change regarding the important issues of the day, whether it is health care reform, or women's rights, or issues related to housing, foreclosures, helping the poor, helping the middle class, etc., it should be continue in earnest.

Also, I'm not advocating for people to give up being engaged when it comes to trying to effect positive change working within our political system, and with our representatives in government.

of what Luis Mendoza is saying, I draw the line at standing around in formation wearing a black shirt. Part one got a lot of recs over at Dkos. This one seems to be sinking. Organizing a movement is not so simple. Lacking some charismatic figure to coalesce around, or some media outlet like Fox to drive people, it's not going to happen. The Vietnam protests were motivated by the draft. People hate the wars we're waging now, but nobody actually has to go fight unless they volunteer. I suppose if unemployment surged that might trigger some agitation, but there's no clear rallying point. Instead, we're under attack by parasites that are slowly draining away our vitality as a people and as a nation. The only way to attack the corporations is through the courts, and we've lost control of those, maybe permanently.
