Dean: Senate Bill Is 'Real Reform,' A Needed Antidote To GOP Propaganda

Dean: Senate Bill Is 'Real Reform,' A Needed Antidote To GOP Propaganda

Former DNC Chair Howard Dean strongly endorsed on Wednesday the Senate's newest incarnation of health care legislation, declaring that it met the most fundamental definitions of reform.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, Dean acknowledged that he had problems with some of the emerging proposals in the Senate. But legislation, he argued, is neither a seamless process nor a perfect product. And there was much to hail about the compromise that had developed.

The former Vermont governor called the decision to allow consumers between the ages of 55 and 64 to buy Medicare coverage "a big step forward."

5. I'm afraid Dean is wrong on this
The way I understand it, this latest plan, lowering Medicare to 55, just puts the taxpayer on the hook for many liabilities the private insurance crooks would otherwise be responsible for. The risk pool for private insurance will be even more risk-averse than it is now because those paying private premiums will be the least likely to ever make a claim, while those who are older and more likely to make a claim will be "dumped" onto Medicare.

Sadly, our joke president is too busy to provide any leadership or pressure on this because he's squeezing in his acceptance of the nobel peace prize between war council meetings.

7. I hate the fact
Edited on Wed Dec-09-09 07:30 PM by Froward69
that insurance will
1) just shift those over 55 to Medicare bankrupting it yet some more. and
2) at this rate we will not catch up to the rest of the world until... um lets see... (Lower the age to qualify for medicare by ten years every 45 years.) so medicare for all (single payer) will occur in 270 years!)

geee wee all can wait around for that, cant we?.. :sarcasm: :banghead:
