It took Al Gore and Bill Clinton to get NAFTA
Edited on Wed Dec-09-09 06:57 PM by AllentownJake
It will take Barack Obama and Joe Biden to force every American to buy private insurance and take those drains on profits, the people over 55, off the insurance company insurance plans.

6. Nixon ironically enough was the last
He was a paranoid crazy fuck, but he was more pro-regulation and government action to social problems than Jimmy Carter.

21. This could hardly be true
Since we weren't interested at all in any legislation Bush wanted.

Why wouldn't that make insurance cheaper? So does Medicare. Take the oldest people off and put them on the government plan.

Ideally everyone would go onto it. It's just that this country is still full of right wingers who think it would interfere with the capitalistic system of free market wonder. Maybe just shooting them all will help? Then they couldn't vote, and we'd have a left wing Congress.

22. Arlen Specter is running to the left of President Obama in PA right now
He has a primary, but the old snake is a calculating SOB and he wouldn't say too much that would get him in trouble at the main event.

P.S. PA is the largest swing state

They greatly prefer "armchair ass sitting". Makes it sooo much easier to sell out to corporations.

26. Those "fundamentals of reform" he says this bill meets
Are uniquely american style "fundamental reforms". In any other country with a form of universal healthcare our fundamentals would be garbage thrown back into the crooked politicians faces by the people.

There are no fundamentals. Dean knows better but he's the guy that said medicare for all or the bill's worth nothing so seems it's time to save face while backing out of the room.

You have less teeth after both of them. More teeth in your mouth after one than the other. Either way, you are still missing teeth.

33. Now you're cooking with gas, my friend!
You've got their MO.

I hate to have been right about this. All that really meant anything were the mandates. I always figured the public option would be either so weakened as to be ineffective or simply dropped. Part of me was hoping I was wrong.

:(

34. What a gross over-simplification.
I hope that someday you have a chance to meet a good friend of mine - Reality.

Dreaming is good. But if you ever want to make your dreams a reality, you have to first understand the current Reality.

Baby steps.
