ISLAMABAD, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Ten people were killed in a suspected U.S. drone attack in the northwest Pakistan's tribal region on Thursday morning, said security and intelligence sources.
Officials said the unmanned aircraft fired two missiles at Ladha in the South Waziristan tribal agency bordering Afghanistan, killing ten including three foreigners.
The strike in the South Waziristan region was the second since U.S. President Barack Obama's speech last week outlining plans to send 30,000 more U.S. troops to Afghanistan.
On Tuesday, a suspected U.S. drone strike in the neighboring North Waziristan killed at least three persons and injured another three.
The Pakistani army has launched a major offensive against the militants in the Taliban strongholds of South Waziristan in mid-October.
The U.S drones regularly hit hideouts of the militants in the Pakistani tribal region, which Washington considers as the center of Taliban and Al-Qaeda militants. Pakistan opposes the U.S. strikes inside the country and seeks the drone technology. But the U.S. does not accept Islamabad's request.
