Why are/were so many right-wing heroes complete idiots?
I mean, Ronald Reagan, Sarah Palin, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Dumbya....

The list goes on and on. Very few of the wingnuts heroes have much between the ears.

2. I'm sure that's part of it. And we also have our own idiots. However...
There does seem to be a preponderence of dumbness on the right.

15. I don't think so.
Wingnut heroes put more importance on annoying liberals than being logical or factually correct. That seems pretty idiotic to me.

3. It's how they justify their
cries of "smaller government". If you pick idiots to run your government, smaller is better.

Had they sufficient brains they would have espoused progressive goals and not held any appeal for defectives.

9. Because most right-wingers are complete idiots
I mean, really. If you're a lunatic moron, you're going to think another lunatic moron who "made it" is the greatest fucking inspiration on the planet.

18. +1
Half of the population is, by definition, of below average intelligence.
They want one of their own, someone they can relate to, to be the Big Daddy or Mommy.

10. because the Smart Kids are never in the group with the Class Clown ..
... the Smart Kids are the ones who are 'wierd' and generally get singled out or picked on.
Its not "normal" to be smart. Its "normal" to be Beavis or Butthead.
So GOPers want their leaders to be 'just like them' ( = stupid as dirt, but "funny" or "folksy").

:wtf:

This country has sunk so far.

11. Their followers relate to them, being proudly ignorant themselves.

Regurgitating talking points and pandering to baser instincts is easier than formulating meaningful, progressive ideas and policies.

Naturally, capitalists like them too, as they are really nothing but wind-up tools for the corporate Mob.

12. I was just reading an article about Palin fans in Utah - some waited
in single digit temps over 13 hours to see their hero. Some there said of Palin that she "is not afraid to speak her mind", that she is "humble", that she is in touch with and has the interest of everyday people at heart. Some there want to see her run in '12 with Ron Paul, many of these want her for President, Paul for VP. They evidently think that Sarah Palin is an honest and wonderful human being worthy of being President of the USA.

I seriously can not understand any of this - Palin is an air headed liar interested in enriching herself in semi-political show business. Whoever in the GOP first considered her presidential material must really hate America.

My consolation with this - they were expecting THOUSANDS of people to show up, got only a few hundred.
By next week, it will be 50 or so.....

13. They just appeal to the majority of Republicans who are looking for someone dumber than themselves.
Anyone with intelligence is a threat so they immediately assume he/she is a commie-pinko-islamofascist socialist liberal, even if it is the Pope.

14. Anti-intellectualism is the coin of the realm with conservatives.
The dumber you are(or appear to be), the more attractive you are to low information voters.
