A Miami man who threw a punch during a healthcare rally will
attend anger management classes.

A Miami-Dade man who punched a demonstrator at a healthcare reform rally has reached a plea deal with prosecutors and will take anger management courses and serve 50 hours of community service as part of his punishment.

Raul Anasagasti, 56, is scheduled to appear in Miami-Dade Circuit Court Thursday. He agreed to the conditions of a pretrial intervention program.

Back in September, Anasagasti punched a 65-year-old man in the face after a heated exchange.

Police said Luis Perrero was attending the rally outside the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, headlined by U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., when Anasagasti, driving by in his green pickup, stopped and began arguing with the crowd....

1. Those things never work
Every time I have heard about some celebrity or pro athlete being sentenced to "anger management" for a kerfluffle with the law, they end up re-offending again in a few months.

3. You're right, and Teabaggers in Miami are a very angry bunch of
misguided souls who believe that Obama is the next Castro.

The Defendant, 56 year old Raul Anasagasti, allegedly pulled his truck up to a group of protestors supporting healthcare reform. Words were exchanged with the victim, 65-year old Luis Perrero. Anasagasti is accused of then punching out the elderly man. Perrero lie unconscious for a period of five minutes.

During the altercation, bystanders removed the defendant's keys from his running vehicle to prevent him from leaving the scene. Miami Police were called to the location and arrested Anasagasti on charges of battery on a person 65 years of age or older. The defendant claims his innocence and that he acted in self defense.
