Franken 'Disappointed' No Public Option, But Deal 'Is One Step Closer'
Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) sent an email to supporters today saying he was "disappointed to learn" that a public option is not part of the tentative Senate compromise. But, he said, "We are one step closer to extending health coverage." Franken said he'd support the compromise if it "includes proposals I've been fighting for, like ensuring that a higher percentage of premium dollars are spent on health care."

7. Franken's a great senator for a new guy, but
he's a little optimistic in this case, I think--sort of a cup-one-tenth-full kind of guy.

But at least the people hear from him. Alaska has a one-termer Democrat in office right now--Mark Begich--and nobody ever hears a word from him on the national level.
