I can only come to one conclusion;
Our President is getting bad advise. The bailouts, the wars, not prosecuting torturers, etc. I don't feel proud that I voted for him anymore. I am afraid for my Son, my Brothers Son's, my Grandson because who will fight these never ending wars? Where are the Anti-War movements? Never thought I would need one with the Democrat I helped vote into office. There is so much wrong with our Country and he isn't on the right track to fix it.

I am hurting at the very core of my being. You know that place that hurts when you have lost someone you love?

I am hoping you guys on DU can talk me down, or at least say you understand.

1. Can't talk you down, but I definitely understand. I'm afraid for all our kids...
...and feel physically ill when I think of the corporate wars they are expected to fight, the corporate debts they are expected to pay, the diseased planet they are expected to deal with - all of it.

2. we have to accept how fucked our country really is
before we can really know what we need to do to fix it.

We can vote for well intentioned leaders, but we have to understand how badly their hands are tied by the prevalent corruption in our government.

We will always have at least a little corruption because of human nature, but we need to get mad at ourselves for letting it get so bad over the course of our lifetime.

I think Obama is starting to pick up on how bad the advice has been, and I would hope he's looking for advice in some other places.

7. Hey, you are NOT alone. Many of us feel betrayed.
The important thing is what you do about it.

Some one I respect very much once said that
the hardest part of being an adult is
coming to grips with seeing the world as it IS,
not as you WISH it to be.

We have long been a nation of magical thinkers imo.

Reality is crashing down on all of us, no matter which "side"
of the political spectrum your thinking leans towards.

What I see are groups of people behaving like teen agers
at a sporting event and this troubles me greatly.

I fear that as long as this behavior is thought rational and a way
to solving our collective problems, there is not much "hope."

I think your best course of action is to face the truth and
figure out how you and your loved ones will survive the coming decades.

Hugs-
BHN

around here.

I know that doesn't talk you down, but it is pretty much what he said he would do during the campaign.

As to the bailouts -- what else could he do? Let the economy collapse?

(agree that it has not been perfect, need more regulation. I see a new wall street regulation bill passed the house)

Prosecuting torture? I remember him campaigning on stopping torture. I don't remember him promising anything about prosecuting Bush admin.

(I do wonder where Holder's "limited" investigation will go. I have a feeling the name "cheney" is going to keep coming up as the one who said "GO FARTHER")

Again this probably does not talk you down.

As to "patriot act" I did not pay attention. Kind of like you did not pay attention to his position on Afghanistan.

"Carrying water?" I don't recall "defending" Obama's positions in my original post or any of the others, except saying "what could he do, let the economy fail" re the bailouts.

I was simply stating that these things are not "surprises"

It seem you suffer from reading comprehension issues as well as an severe case of self-righteousness.

17. Understood and I don't have any perky and delusional hype to sell you either
Our country is corrupt, the result of 100 years of corporate and government propaganda that is so prevalent and successful now that most people don't even recognize it. Many private sectors are full of criminal liars who've done nothing but lie to get ahead for the last 30 years and they all have equally corrupt government counterparts representing their criminal interests.

Be happy with things in your personal life that you have worked towards and be happy with some of the actual achievements of the democratic party such as Social Security, Medicare and other social networks that actually do look out for the average citizen. Be happy with the fact that you can see what's really going on too.

I did not want to believe all that Nairn exposed, but clearly

was wrong... no, I was not a "purist" when I voted for him.... The moment he named Rahm as COS, I knew we were truly fucked.

I knew about his connections and how he rose so quickly was a big red flag to me. I remember even expressing concern to a friend of mine when he was running for Senate. When Ryan stepped down (and didn't his scandal come at an opportune time?), the GOP had Alan Keyes run against him. His victory was at hand.

I just looked up a couple of threads that I posted on in 2005.

Barbara Boxer all but said that Rice was a war criminal. She had charts and facts. Most of that info was known by many DUer for quite some time. It was stunning. With Boxer's presentation, any Dem who voted to confirm Rice as SOS was IMHO complicit.

47. The only conclusions I am coming up with is..
that many roadblocks were put in place before the President took office,a lot of things were being made TOP SECRET by Bush/Cheney and a lot of shredding and back door contracts were being made. There are many things that the President can't tell us.

Many of these pundits who come on television have money invested in every issue they are talking about including reporters, notice how they attack, attack, attack the Dems and let the Repugs skate away without explaining anything or no follow ups but, they keep harping on the DEms telling them but,you are in power, knowing how the game is being played.

I notice King on CNN today he had the senator from virginia Warner and John Thune. As soon as Warner began to explain what is going on with healthcare John king got so excited because Warner was explaining it where most people could understand it and John King couldn't have that, he is protecting his interests you know.

Ed Henry was so excited as though he was getting ready to have some sex as he spewed his lies about the President. Now,Bill Bennett's big evil ass, can't even stand it when a Dem even talks this fat bastard starts to wiggle and almost busts out of his suit as soon as Donna Brazile gets her chance to speak.

I could see that King was trying to protect Thune and interrupted Warner at every turn he kept trying to help him and Warner wouldn't let him stop him from making his point, something which most Dems do,King looked at Thune as though he was saying "I tried to help you man"..
