I'm at a Toys for Tots collection facility - they are VERY low on toys |
|
this year. So, just a reminder or a nudge if you're so inclined.

24. Actually it was many Salvation Army chapters all across the country |
|
And yesterday an article was posted here about Toys for Tots having the same policy.

9. Hmmm, well I don't have any anymore, but |
|
First, I've heard that the toys they collect from individuals is a drop in the bucket. They really count on retailers and manufacturers dumping toys that don't sell on them.
Second, it has to be new and in its original packaging. Doesn't matter whether its in perfect condition if it's not in its packaging. I can see why they wouldn't want you to dump your old worn out toys on them, but in hard times I would think they could be more flexible.
Do they still segregate toys by sex rigidly? My daughter's girl scout troop helped sort toys one year, and was appalled that ALL the sports equipment (unless it was pink, as in pink soccer balls) went to the "boys" pile. Girls got piles and piles of Barbies, My Little Ponies, plastic pretend vacuum cleaners, etc.

to give toys to this year. Hint: Ask the school teachers. They know better what kids are in need than most. When I heard that these organizations were requesting GREEN CARDS before they would hand out toys, I was simply aghast. What would Jesus do? Indeed.
