"Americans for Financial Reform" in the Streets- Events for Week of Dec 14th
Edited on Sun Dec-13-09 09:31 PM by chill_wind
Americans for Financial Reform

Americans for Financial Reform and Americans for Fairness in Lending (AFFIL) are partnering to reform the nation’s lending industry and financial system to protect Americans’ neighborhoods, homes and pocketbooks.

For too long, the rules of Wall Street have been written by the bankers themselves. This year, that has to change.

We are a coalition of over two hundred national, state and local consumer, labor, business, retiree, investor, community and civil rights organizations that have come together to spearhead a campaign for real reform in our banking and financial system

1. Nice. With that many organizations going after banking reform
how can this get organized to get a petition for an initiative on the ballot, say in California or some other states, that would outlaw corporate influence in politics.

Get a powerful law on the books in some state that makes it clear that corporations are not "persons" legally, and make the supreme court confront it and have to rule on it.

2. This is the first I've visited their website.
We sure wouldn't know much about them from any of the usual corp MSM.

Bill Moyers covered them just recently:

Probably lots of DUers have drawn attention to them in recent months. The above event dates are just a FYI for people in those cities.
