Threaten to take away his beloved committee chairmanship and follow through if he stays his current course.

4. Pass the legislation that will stop him from cashing in after his term is done. |
|
It seems pretty clear that he has no hope of ever being elected to any office ever again, he is planning on a huge pay out from the insurance companies he is now whoring for. If that income was in jeopardy he would need to sell out for less.

12. He was just elected again |
|
Why would you think "he has no hope" of being elected again? Do you think DU is representative of the electorate in Connecticut?

7. Unless Dems Are Willing To Go All Cheney, There's Not Much That Can Be Done |
|
Except to find a way around him via reconciliation or nuking the fillibuster or getting Collins or Snowe or Nelson.
It sucks, but Lieberman is doing this because HE GET'S HIS KICKS from it. It's a personal vendetta and there is no leverage on a person like that unless you are willing to go all Cheney on him.

8. Buckle under or lose any chairmanships and other committee memberships. |
|
Further, buckle under or the Senate will use reconciliation on any bill that it can, and invite you to formally join the GOP, as well as doing so de facto.
