Need help with terrorist attacks during Bush years after 9/11 |
|
Ever since Fort Hood, I've been tired of hearing the meme from some people that Bush kept us safe. I have found that reminding certain people of attacks that occurred post 9/11 does a lot of good at quelling it, at least when I'm in the room. What's more, it gets picked up even when I'm not. I want to see if my list is complete.
Anthrax attacks Seattle Jewish Center attack Knoxville attack Beltway sniper Shoe-bomber
The most effective one to compare to Ft Hood has been the Seattle Jewish Center attack, followed by Malvo.
Anthrax often gets blown off as "being part of 9/11," despite the actual facts. Sometimes the shoe-bomber is excused as an attack because it was unsuccessful (due to luck as much as anything else, but no matter).
The Knoxville attack is not seen by many as a "terror" attack, because the perpetrator was not a Muslim.
Any other overlooked incidents to add to the list would be appreciated. I have found retaliating with a laundry list whenever this comes up to be incredibly effective, and put Foot Hood in perspective for those with short memories. Of course, nothing convinces the crazies, but fortunately, most people aren't.

1. Don't bother arguing. The fuckwads still try to blame Clinton for 9/11. |
|
History isn't real big on their list of things to remember.

4. Not speaking to the fuckwads |
|
I'm speaking to those in the middle who don't follow politics so well. To those people, this particular argument unopposed gives them pause. I intend to continue to oppose it.

7. Until they start to pay attention to what is going on today, they'll be ignorant of the past. |
|
That's the way it has always been.

3. I wouldn't consider Seattle, Knoxville, or Beltway Sniper crimes to be terrorism. |
|
There was no political motive involved. Two were mentally disturbed nuts of the typical variety. The Snipers were attempting extortion for monetary gain.
There were numerous bombings and arsons at abortion clinics during the Bush admin. All of those would qualify.

5. Seattle is as much terrorism as Ft Hood |
|
I don't disagree, but if Fort Hood can be said to be a "terrorist attack" because of the gunman, so can Seattle.

8. and what about spreading muslim terrorism in the rest of the world? |
|
another thing that gets me is that the GOP could care less about the UK, Madrid, Bali, Bombay, Embassy bombings, bombings in pakistan...etc...etc...
if we don't think Bush's behavior made terrorism worse in the rest of the world we are kidding ourselves.

Because to me, that counts as American soil.
