Al Gore will be the death of us all..
Last night I was playing a computer game - CIV4 ( http://www.2kgames.com/civ4/ )(for those that want more info on CIV)..
In the game you bring a civilization through history - from 4000bc to 2050ad.
As you discover new technologies the game explains the new tech to you. In older versions of this game (CIVII / III) these descriptions would explain the advance and how it effected the world. In CIV4 you just get a quote or a sentence that epitomizes the discovery. So when you discover THE AUTOMOBILE, for instance, the older civ would describe the model T, highways, and the use of the jeep in wwII. When you discover THE AUTOMOBILE in CIV4 (Leonard Nemoy's voice)- "Everything is somewhere else and you get there in a car." Sums up the American passion for the car quite nicely.
When I discovered the internet during the game on CIV4- A picture of Al Gore and the sounds of a phone connecting to the internet.

Then I saw this TYT thread today in DU political videos suggesting that Sarah Palin will debate Al Gore on Global Warming.
Al Gore will be the death of us all..
With all the science on his side, if he loses this debate to Sarah Palin it will be the end game for the planet.
Anti-environmentalist will have the high ground.
Sarah Palin would be credible.
And the combination of the two would just be devastating.

Gore lost the debate to Bush, imho, in 2000. He pick Joementum to ride shotgun for our party in the same year.
Gore has done great work regarding global warming.
I hope he doesn't become the death of us all..

3. That is my fear
I have visions of Gore looking dumbfounded "Her logic is absurd." And her all "Ya'Betcha. Gosh he is boring."

Awful, awful I says!

5. If he debates her, he'll be painted as an elitist, over-educated snob
Oh wait... he already is.

This is the equivalent of a Rhodes Scholar debating the dyslexic kid in class. He'd do well, use facts, charts, figures and stay on-point while she'd replies with run-on sentences that sound like a buncha words comin' out of a random word generator. The "simple" folk will be endeared by her "normal people" demeanor and turned off by all of Gore's big words and fancyfing.

6. If Palin actually asked Gore for a debate, the appropriate response
would be to completely ignore said request. The woman's oral diarrhea doesn't merit any response whatsoever.

7. You're asking an awful lot of the man
Although if he could refrain from actually rolling around on the floor as the peals of laughter erupt from him, that would be most tactful.

8. I really think ,,,,,,
you overestimate Sarah Palin. She is not intelligent. The majority of reality based people find her terrifically irritating to listen to, and this was during the campaign for McCain's presidency. The news commentates use her as a bad joke and her book just tanked big time no sooner than it went on sale. She has been proven to be a liar just about every time she opens her mouth and she comes across as greedy grasping and ridiculous human being. Al Gore may not be boring, but I think he is smart enough to avoid putting his foot in his mouth and then talking around it. He also doesn't engender the almost instant dislike that Palin does among every group except the Kool Aid brigade.

I really wish I could see the last of Palin. She thinks nothing, speaks but says nothing is so obviously our to wrap her hand around every dollar bill that comes withing three feet of her and she is a complete fraud who will never be anything more than a debatable footnote to history. Having her sit down and shut up is one of my life dreams. Finding someone who "believes" in her would be one of my worst nightmares. Now I have had to contemplate her before I had my coffee. That is cruel.

I swear to God she is the next Raygun. She could be all that he was.

I think that she may be the biggest test we democrats face in the 21st century, aside from our corporate 2 party system..

19. Sorry, but I don't agree ....
by the way I don't think anyone else mentioned it, but Bush didn't win the election because of a debate with Gore. Gore won the popular vote. Bush won the electoral votes because of election fraud in Florida. His brother handed him the state after some big time cheating. Bush was an electoral college president. The best argument ever for abolishing the electoral college. In 2004 the fraud was in Ohio.

People are now aware of the Republican penchant for election fraud and are watching for it. Short of fraud all Palin is ever going to win is ridicule. She is a nobody who does nothing and has never had an original thought in her life. McCain took her because he thought he needed a female running mate to win. He now regrets it and calls her a liar. Coming from him that doesn't mean much, but it is hard for me to understand how anyone can take her seriously. If you are not serious, excuse me for missing the joke. The only joke I see is Palin.

20. we don't agree at all
I think that she is the next Raygun. Of course it is possible that we both agree that Raygun was the worst president ever. Or we might not agree on that..

The criticism of his sighing was ridiculous to anyone who cared at all about the issues discussed.
