Today President Obama will meet with the nation’s top bank executives in the President’s “latest push for lenders to take greater responsibility as the nation combats an economic crisis that began on Wall Street.” “The president is looking forward… the need to increase small business lending and the Administration’s plans for financial reform,” a White House spokesperson said.

This morning on NBC’s Today, RNC chair Michael Steele said that in order for banks to start lending to small businesses, the federal government should reduce the unemployment tax:

1. Republicans are just plain mean.
I don't think it's so much a matter of ideology; they are simply a bunch of mean bastards who actually enjoy creating hardship and inflicting pain. What other explanation can there be for thinking it would be a good idea to reduce unemployment benefits in the middle of a horrendous recession? Sociopathic sons of bitches, I hope they all roast in hell someday.

2. Republican logic is strange
Paying people when they're down and out with the money withheld and set aside for that purpose fosters dependency. But overrich banksters can't possibly be expected to do their jobs for the pittance they're paid, and must, must, must have additional millions in order to work.

will look for work. They have practiced this kind of "compassion" for years.

5. Yeah be like Hawaii. We reduced ours the last 2 years and now it is BROKE.
And there will be huge increases in the upcoming years. Great idea Steele...NOT.
