Ya gotta admit it. At some point, the idea that the perfect is the enemy of the good ....... |
|
...... ceases to be operative.
I think we might be past that point as regards the Senate's contribution to the health debate in particular, and the public weal in general.

8. Someone around here used to like to say... |
|
"Torches and pitchforks, my friends, torches and pitchforks." Who was that? Anyway, it fits this HCR situation.

11. A lot of us did. The sentiment is still operative. |

10. For it to be operative.. |
|
... something has to be "good" in the first place. This "reform" bill is largely a mystery, but the parts we do know don't leave much hope for "good".

12. That all depends upon how good the good gets. If its potential has been maxed out by |

comparison to the perfect and it still falls so short of what IS possible and needed in the current situation, then the good isn't good enough and the perfect ceases to be the enemy of the good, because the good is dysfunctional and, hence, ir-relevant.
