Would the Repubs hesitate to use reconciliation to pass an issue as important to them as HCR? |
|
No. They wouldn't. In fact, they http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reconciliation_%28United_States_Congress%29">didn't. THREE FUCKING TIMES. Under the administration of President George W. Bush, Congress used reconciliation to enact three major tax cuts. These tax cuts were set to lapse after 10 years to satisfy the Byrd Rule.God, Reid is such a fucking wimp.

4. This isn't about money. The money part simply allows the senate to use reconciliation. |
|
There's too much riding on this bill to leave it to consensus

2. It is much easier to pass tax changes under reconciliation |
|
As opposed to complex legislation such as comprehensive health care reform.
Republicans did however fail in their attempt to use reconciliation for ANWR drilling, due to the Byrd Rule.

7. It would apply to a bill passed using reconciliation. |
|
That's why a second bill would need to be passed under normal procedures for things like a ban on pre-existing conditions, ect.

8. What Health Care is not passed yet? We need Reconciliation Now! |
|
Edited on Tue Dec-15-09 01:47 AM by jhr4u
You know I am new to this site and have not paid any attention to politics for the last few months and for the last few days now I started again. What I just realized is...
1) I was happier not paying attention. (But that's how they slip stuff by us)
2) OMG they still haven't passed this Health Care bill yet? WTF are we even considering these obstructionist morons for, still? I mean really I cant believe this nonsense is still going on. Just slam it through. Ram it down their throats like they would do. That is the only thing I give the GOP credit for. They will slam you with so much garbage and sell it to you as your savior.
3) Why can't we just use Reconciliation and do the right thing, get it done. Then make it work and use it against them. Like "Gather all their footage of being against. Once it starts working play that footage over and over saying they were against your healthy future. Right before the next election. Or something like that. I mean we really need to start preparing now with so much garbage to throw at them that they are occupied and frustrated. That is what they do to us. Turnabout is fair play!
Anyway to answer the topic, I think they would have already passed anything their feeble minds came up with.
