1. Are your Dems are worthless as Lieberman, Landrieu or
Stupak? If so, I wouldn't help them out either.

Mine are ok though, so I'd help if they needed it.

4. What difference does it make...
...if all they can wind up doing is caving to the DLC gang?

9. The point is to keep the good guys and dump the DLC gang.
The DLC is the minority.

19. The problem is, the DLC is still in charge...
...and will be as long as placating them is required, because they hold veto power.

And the notion of "dump the DLC gang" is naive at best. Why do you think we have the Nelsons, Lincolns, and Landrieus? Because no more-progressive Democrat could be elected in those states. It's either a DINO or a Republican.

I've been preaching the "keep the good guys and dump the DLC" creed for years. I'm over it. It's just a ruse to keep us reeled-in forever.

The only way this party will learn a lesson is when it realizes the fruits of placating the right-wing. If that takes a loss of the majority...well, it won't be any worse than having a "filibuster-proof majority" that is forced to cater to the whims of Lieberman.

6. Get a job driving a taxi. That way you'll know you're appreciated, when you take their money.
And if they ain't got no money... no ride for them.

:)

It's the American way.

15. No, the America way is to take the fare up front and then
throw your ride under the bus.

18. Heh, taxi drivers are more apt to be prosecuted by the police than politicians.
Though a night driver might be able to get away with throwing passengers under a bus. (The taxi police don't like to work nights.)

Taking a fare's money up front is definitely a regular practice if one suspects that the fare isn't meaning to pay (in the industry parlance, a passenger is an interchangeable term with a fare... because a passenger is nothing more to a driver than the fare money that they represent). The hugely crooked taxi business, however, still isn't as crooked as politics though... since a taxi driver, once paid, will almost always take the fare where they want to go.

It takes democrats to kill the new deal -- the rank & file would kick if the pubs did the dirty work.

20. Right now, I fear that the "more work to do"...
...involves "turning the scoundrels out" -- and that includes Barack Obama.

Seriously, I think it will take the multi-decade task of building a new party with an explicit progressive basis. The Democratic Party, even with majorities everywhere, is totally useless. Time to let it go the way of the Whigs.

22. So you're just gonna give up? What kind of candyass...
talk is this?

Who guaranteed you were going to get your way, and, even more important, since when does this service you provide come with a requirement that you get your way.

I come from places where the machines ran everything-- "democracy" was a sham unless you had two major Democratic machines at war with each other, giving you a chance to actually choose sides. Elections were run and rigged by the machine, and you had to get permission from the county bosses to get anything done.

And you dare complain about this cockup in Washington?

25. So you made it through the corporate policies of Clinton and TANF
and the failed health care and NAFTA and... but Obama, screw it. I am getting really skeptical of people who loved, and stuck by, Clinton (I understand this does not apply to alot of you) but give up on Obama very quickly. Really skeptical.

I appreciate both Presidents and disagree with both on many governing issues.

Most people who've been paying minimal attention know that I was working for and donating to Obama, both during the primaries and the general.

Now, tell us some more about your heroic arrest. We're on pins and needles here!
