If We Blame McCain For Giving Us Palin, Shoudn't We Be Blaming Gore For Giving Us Lieberman? |
|
Let's face it - neither Palin nor Lieberman would have the prominence they have these days were they not selected by McCain and Gore to run for the VP spot.

7. bullshit. The same advisors that told Gore to pick liberman, told Gore not to recount the |
|
entire state. If he had done that, then you would have been right, but that isn't what happened

Are you arguing that Joe Lieberman would be less of an obstructionist asshole right now if Gore hadn't picked him for VP?

Palin was a totally unknown before McCain picked her (or rather, the GOP picked her). Lieberman was already a senator. Although I have to admit that perhaps the spotlight gave him a bigger head than he deserves.
I have no idea why he turned into such a vile repuke.

8. Joe already made his bones finger-wagging at Clinton |
|
Which is why Gore picked him. Stupid, awful mistake. But he wasn't pulled up from obscurity, he was already ascendant as the strutting, hectoring "Conscience of the Senate".

9. I don't know, Lieberman was a lot more decent back then. |
|
Gore was just trying for wider appeal. I wouldn't blame him. Define "give us." Palin didn't make it and Liberman is right where he would have been anyway had he not been chosen by Gore.

12. Actually, had Gore been elected ... |
|
... I think Joe would have been an exemplary Dem VP.
That's because he's a whore, and a good whore always makes sure the customer who's paying the big bucks gets their money's worth.
I'll say this for Joe: He's a lousy Democrat, a traitor to those he allegedly represents, and an all-'round disgusting human being - but he's one hell of a whore. Can't take that away from him.
Just givin' credit where it's due ...

Joe was a Senator before he was VP candidate.
What "made" Joe what he is today was 9/11 and his resulting conversion to neocon (or maybe he always was a neocon and 9/11 happened to let his inner Leo Strauss out to play). In any event, his pro Israel pro war with any Muslim country changed him into someone progressives didn't like very much, a loyal Bush supporter, a torture supporter, etc. So we primary'd his ass, and he ran as an "independent" (RINO) and we've been stuck with that result ever since. He now, I believe, openly hates all progressives and will do anything, even coming out against a proposal that he has espoused for years, if it will hurt the progressives.
We made Joe Lieberman.
We forgot the number one rule in the art of war (Shaka Zulu) "Leave no enemy behind" and Ralph Waldo Emerson's wisdom "When you strike at a king, you must kill him".
Joe wasn't a king but a Senator, we should have defeated him.

17. I blame Joe's disaster of a run for Prez in 2004... caused him to hate Dems |
|
and show his true colors.
Not to mention the 2006 Senate race.

20. The point of choosing Lieberman, from what I can tell |
|
was to continue Bill Clinton's tradition of not giving progressives ANYTHING, either in the platform or on the ticket. Can we all agree that THAT approach needs to be ditched forever?

President Vichy Joe would have faithfully executed them.
