And the Democratic Party really believes that support from the American people won't dry up if they pass this?
I see a divisive backlash coming and unfortunatly the Republicans are licking their chops.
My hope is that we would all seek out and support progressive/liberal/left Democratic candidates to replace the Blue Dogs instead of throwing the Party away, but I understand the frustration.

The Democratic party is too tied to corporate donors and lobbyists to be an effective agent for progress. In fact they are obstructionists to progress just as the Republicans are.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced tonight that tomorrow the Senate will hear several more amendments to the health reform bill - and one of those amendments is Sen. Bernie Sanders' single-payer amendment No. 2837. The amendment also has two other original co-sponsors, Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio and Sen. Roland Burris of Illinois.

We never knew if we'd get to this point. And it is your work and your passion that got the single-payer effort this far. Let's send this message as loudly and clearly as we can.
So, in a historic turn of events, single-payer healthcare will finally be heard by this Congress. Single-payer is a wonderful idea from the left - public financing - combined with a terrific idea from the right - private delivery, and put together in one common sense plan for all. One single standard of high quality healthcare - everybody in, nobody out.
Our effort is needed one more time - we need to let Senator Reid know we are pleased the Senate will hear the amendment, but we must also ask our Senators to vote in favor of it. The numbers for phoning are:

Many of us are quite disappointed with the bills currently being considered, especially those with mandates for us to purchase an overpriced product from an insurance company - a product that is designed to maximize profit, not provide health care. This isn't reform.

7. Our government is an affront to it's people.

The Senate and House now act as an entity to themselves.
The president has become a sad figurehead with apparently no real power (other than to wage wars).
Why? Because we enable them. We have become serfs.
The solution has always been the elections - but that process has been subverted by an endless line of replacements that have been essentially manufactured by the special interests (the real governement).
Only when the people have had enough will this change.
How will that look? I prefer nonviolence, but all this bottled-up rage in the air has to go somewhere someday.

18. This is looking like TARP-in-advance for private insurance companies

It is estimated that the entire system will collapse by 2018.
By 2018, medical profiteering will skyrocket to $4.4 trillion a year.
Imagine your current premium doubled.
It will be unaffordable and they know it.

This bill looks like a bailout in advance, at our expense.

The CEO of United Health Group will continue to receive his $125 million a year.
At least one American will be happy with the bill!
