They think they can do this to us with impunity?
They think we won't notice what they did to us, we'll buy the propaganda, we'll show off our manacles to each other as the latest in fashion, we'll kiss their feet in gratitude?

Unless DU is vastly different from the rest of the party, the Dems have just lost their base. They're going to have to claw their way chitinously to the right and start fighting the Republicans for the teabagger and loony vote.

12. You forgot Balloon Boy
and "World's Funniest Home Videos" -- don't we working class people do some of the funniest things!

The elites are sitting around laughing at us while we sit around laughing at us.

4. Yes they do
I wrote dozens of letters, donated way too much money. I called, I begged.

And these gutless bastards roll over and give the insurance lobby a big gift while throwing us scraps of rotted meat.

Yes they think we'll just vote for the lesser of two evils come 2010 and 2012.

I guess these bastards are a marginal improvement over what we had but at least I could respect the Republicans for having the guts to enact their platform. Not like these fuckers.

5. They got away with it when they forced the changes on us that have
put our country in the dumpster. They forced those wars on us with impunity, no matter the protests and the letters and telephone calls not to. So now they know they can do this. They can piss on us all they want to. A protestor at Copenhagen said it best that President Obama and the United States is being held hostage by big corporations. We, the people and our Constitution, don't matter to the powerful.

6. Then it is time to quit buying from the Big Corporations.
As much as possible.
I am was amazed when I did a series of polls here. the majority of respondents STILL have more than one credit card, do business with BOA, etc.
We STILL, in effect, buy the bullets they shoot at us, and then complain about it.

10. They can do it with impunity. We don't control anything.
If we don't vote, they'll just fake that.

14. "They" have been doing since before Nixon
the working class just had a temporary boost after the Great Depression.

The real hit happened when Reagan took office and started implementing the same neoliberal policies in the United States that we had been supporting in places like Indonesia and Chile--free markets, deregulation, tax cuts for the wealthy, cuts is social services, privatization--they used the recession to implement disaster capitalism.

We're being turned into peasants.

Here in Alaska, the owners and operators of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline just made a contract award that knocks hundreds of union employees with decades of experience out of their jobs effective January 31st of 2010. They will be replaced by bringing non-union workers from oil states in the Lower 48. Those workers have never worked under arctic conditions, and they don't have the environmental ethic that Alaska workers have. This loss of experience includes a severe reduction in the ability to respond to spills. But they are going to save tens of millions of dollars by doing it. Why? the non-union workers will be paid a fraction of what the union employees are paid. They will not receive the pensions that union employees receive.

This kind of thing, done an increment at a time, is what has brought us to where we are now. And it continues with impunity.

Remember Joe Lieberman was Obama’s Mentor in the Senate

By: fflambeau Monday December 14, 2009 10:05 pm

Those who are up in arms over Sen. Joe Lieberman’s "veto" of the extension of Medicare should remember this. When Sen. Barack Obama arrived in Washington, D.C. in 2005, he selected as his mentor none other than: Joe Lieberman.

Here’s David Sirota writing about this, after discussing Obama’s stab in the back of the progressive Lamont in Connecticut and his stab in the back of the progressive Christine Cegelis (Obama backed Duckworth) way back in 2006:

snip:

Other sources, including the Hartford Courant, reported that Obama chose Lieberman as his mentor.]
