Healthcare bill designed to weaken family, says Republican.
Edited on Tue Dec-15-09 11:47 AM by GreenPartyVoter
Former Minnesota state legislator Allen Quist points out that two single people each making $30,000 per year would pay $1,320 combined for private health insurance if the Pelosi House bill was in effect now. However, if the two individuals were to marry, they would pay a combined cost of $12,000 a year for the same level of insurance under the Pelosi bill.

Quist notes this "marriage penalty" extends all the way from a two-person combined income of $58,280 to $86,640. The GOP candidate notes that that $28,000 spread encompasses a large number of Americans.

Allen Quist (Minnesota)"Let me be very blunt," says the House hopeful. "Tyrants know that marriage and family are the basic core of society and the basic foundation of government -- and if people are going to control others, they see marriage and family as their number-one threat.

"So tyrants always want to weaken the family," he concludes, "and that's what this bill is designed to do. And it's designed to do it very effectively."

5. no?
As in this is untrue about the cost of proposed health care for single workers vs married workers or
no as in it is stupid to think there is any kind of attack on the family?

I do think it is stupid and desperate to try and paint health care reform as an attack on the family. Just wondering if families are going to have to pay 12,000 a year.....

Someone please tell me that is BS. :)

6. Sorry, no it's not an attack on the family.......
and if it came from a conservative republican it's not true.

It was a reflexive thing........as soon as i hear conservative or republican.

4. Yes, because an uninsured family with a sick member running up
thousands of dollars in bills every day makes the family stronger... :eyes:

8. Where I can I get full Health Care coverage for $55. per month?
This is complete bullshit. The $1320. amount has to be monthly and that adds up to $15840. per year.. considerably more than $12000. for a married couple.
