Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) says Lieberman should be recalled
(Too bad CT has no Recall law)

A House Democrat from Connecticut said Tuesday that Sen. Joe Lieberman should be recalled from office over his opposition to the Senate health care bill.

"No individual should hold health care hostage, including Joe Lieberman, and I'll say it flat out, I think he ought to be recalled," Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) told POLITICO.

Connecticut has no recall law for state officials, and the Constitution does not authorize states to recall members of Congress since each house has the authority to police its own members.

But DeLauro’s comments speak to concerns running through Democratic circles in Connecticut and in Washington after Lieberman exerted his will on Democratic leaders and the White House, saying he would join a GOP filibuster if the bill included either a public insurance option or a provision allowing people aged 55-64 to buy into Medicare.

2. This is the 3rd or 4th time this has been posted.
It is sad as there is NO provision for recall.

Just shows that some folks don't know what they are talking about - including elected officials.

5. Yes, there's no provision for recall, but I wonder if an "advisory proposition" can be made...

That would allow Connecticut voters to recommend that the Senate vote to expel Liebermann. Now expulsion would take a 2/3rds majority vote, and therefore would be a tough vote to get when we don't even have 60 votes now without his vote. Hasn't happened since the civil war, and the last time it was tried was against Bob Packwood, who resigned before a vote of the Senate occurred. But perhaps if someone can drum up some real bad illegal act he's done, and we get enough people voting against him in an advisory vote, it might coax more senators that don't want to feel the wrath of voters to kick him out.

Even if we fail to censure him, we'll have a "list" of his friends that voted for him, who we can also target in upcoming elections.

6. No state has a recall law for Congressional Reps & Senators...
It would not be constitutional (as thankfully was pointed out by the article)... Rep DeLauro is expressing her frustration that I share. But she likewise expressed her appalling ignorance of the constitution....
