"My fellow Democrats, If you elect me I promise I will tinker around the
edges of every major issue facing the country. I will bow and capitulate in every way so that I can have consensus in the House and Senate. Mind you now, nothing really would change all that much, but if we start tinkering now, maybe in your children's lifetime we can have real change..."

I know it's harsh but this is how I feel...

1. Make that "great grandchildren's lifetime."
In reality, none of us alive today will see any change.

3. Any President who wins by running as a populist
Then once elected runs as far away from populism as Obama has, will lose the confidence of the voters.

Its really a strategic blunder that has eroded the trust we had in him.

5. I'll still support the democratic party and the candidates because
the alternative is simply awful...

But right now, I am feeling very used...

And I know it's not all President Obama's fault but he will be the one that has to wear the bill...

4. Makes sense if you ignore all the good stuff he has already accomplished.
The list has been posted many times on DU, I'm sure you've seen it.

6. I have and I know it and I appreciate all he has done...
But the people who voted for him, believed in him, supported him because he projected an aura of populism. There are very disappointed supporters out there.

Me. I've been involved in electoral politics since 1976, worked for the Democratic Party and so many candidates it's hard to remember all their names.

I'll still vote for him. I have up to this point in my life and from here on end will never vote for a republican.

I wanted to express my frustration.

10. This list?

*Trillion Dollars given to friends and campaign contributors on Wall Street. No Strings Attached...Mission Accomplished!

*Military Spending INCREASED....Mission Accomplished!

*Trillion+ Dollars given to the Health Insurance Industry. Easily Avoidable, symbolic only strings attached....Mission almost Accomplished!

*Force all Americans to buy invisible products from For Profit Corporations who produce nothing tangible and create no wealth.....Mission almost Accomplished!

*Kill the possibility for a REAL "Public Option" or REAL Universal Health Care for at least another generation, and begin the “Entitlement Reform” defunding of Medicare (-$500 Billion)....Mission almost Accomplished!

*Protect the Bush War Criminals and Torturers from JUSTICE....Mission Accomplished.

*Throw the GBLTs under the bus and expand "faith based" initiatives....Mission Accomplished!

*Reinforce the worst Police State provisions of the Patriot Act....Mission Accomplished!

"There are forces within the Democratic Party who want us to sound like kinder, gentler Republicans. I want us to compete for that great mass of voters that want a party that will stand up for working Americans, family farmers, and people who haven't felt the benefits of the economic upturn."---Paul Wellstone

11. Precisely my point, you're ignoring all the positives.
Negative people tend to do that.

..ignore the failings.

We don't have to fix what is right, but we damn sure need to address the failings.

8. The other day...
...there was a post about how two of the populists folks on the Obama campaign were looking for work shortly after the election.

It was a hell of a sales program, eh? Fooled me.

9. He's not the only one who has to wear the bill...
I doubt that he will really feel the consequences, unless he morphs into another LBJ over this.

We will wear this bill, unto endless generations.

I feel a lot more harshly about him now. I feel betrayed, stabbed in the back, whatever your favorite metaphor is.

He has allowed this obscenity to happen.

17. What would happen if we nominated one person from DU
and poured our energies and money into their election instead of the resources we would
normally pour into our Democratic candidates. Think of it as a grand experiment for real change.
It would be a true grassroots effort and many others would contribute that are as fed up as we are.

because that's how it is.

(Except for the part about change in the future. Any change will require a revolution.)
