What kind of a democracy allows one man to dictate policy
A man who is not even the president and therefore doesn't have veto power.
Honestly, I'm at a loss for words.
Is this political system of ours just hopelessly fucked?

1. The kind that elected Joe Lieberman. A democratic republic.
The people of Connecticut elected Joe Lieberman. And frankly, the people of Connecticut knew what they were doing when they did so.

Blame Connecticut.

2. The same kind of democracy that allows the person with the 51st vote in the Senate
to dictate policy.

3. The same kind that allows one man on a jury of 12 to prevent a wrong, or prevent justice.
These are the weaknesses that come with, indeed are necessary in, the kind of system that we have.

And yes, sometimes it sucks.

5. It's more complicated than that. In any democracy, any vote *can* come down to one man.
It's unfair, but it's always going to be unfair. The point is to deal with that fact and then try to win anyway.

I'm pissed off too, by the way. But the problem ain't democracy; the problem is that our leaders didn't play hardball.

16. our leaders didn't play hardball.
Yes they do. It's called class warfare and they have been playing hardball since our country's inception. Against us.

If our so called "elected" Representatives are not rich when they get elected, they soon will be and it seems that the price at which they are willing to sell us out gets lower every year but in the end, they will sell us out. They have sold us out. Welcome to the end of the great American Experiment. Do you feel the water getting hotter? That's you getting fucked by your corporate Feudal masters. Get used to it.

8. "Is this political system of ours just hopelessly fucked?"
AAAHHHH, let me

YES!!!

Actually, I believe that our political system is functioning as designed ... just like a well-oiled machine. It functions for the benefit of the wealthy, corporations, special interests, etc. and grinds us working stiffs right into the ground.

13. No kind. And Lieberman is here to make the greatest folly of American ideals...
by the wagging of his trained dog whistle of a tongue and perhaps even since the beginning of America herself - rockets red glare my ass. What price has Mr. Lieberman paid that he hasn't received first as a political donation to his personal ego? I am quite sure he feels completely differently about endless ME war and extending un-checked foreign aid to Israel; Mr. Lieberman is a far-far less than forthcoming hypocrite. And while America remains full of them...Joe Lieberman takes the goddamn cake for self serving conceit and personal the aggrandizement of himself, his wife, and his lobby

Congratulations, Mr. Lieberman  but for the fact you're such a ham-handed nini brain - you've nearly made a hat-trick in that not only is your fly open, but your duplicitous disregard for matters specific to: *We The People*, is hanging the fuck out of it! And I for one am tired of seeing it on my TV

So make your final toss, Mr. Lieberman, and declare the blood of Americans worth less than the blood of others
