Lieberman: Liberal Enthusiasm Convinced Me To Oppose Medicare Buy-In
Edited on Tue Dec-15-09 07:43 PM by RamboLiberal
In an interview with the New York Times, Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) revealed Tuesday that he decided to oppose a Medicare buy-in in part because liberals like Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) liked it too much.

In the interview, Mr. Lieberman said that he grew apprehensive when a formal proposal began to take shape. ...

And he said he was particularly troubled by the overly enthusiastic reaction to the proposal by some liberals, including Representative Anthony Weiner, Democrat of New York, who champions a fully government-run health care system.

"Congressman Weiner made a comment that Medicare-buy in is better than a public option, it's the beginning of a road to single-payer," Mr. Lieberman said. "Jacob Hacker, who's a Yale professor who is actually the man who created the public option, said, 'This is a dream. This is better than a public option. This is a giant step.'"

F*ck you Lieberman. I know people of the Jewish faith don't believe in Heaven & Hell, but in instance I hope there is a hell and you burn in it. You are a sad vengeful little pissant!

6. Maybe there was a blessing in Gore getting cheated
I shudder to think of this little jerk in the WH. He'd have been the damn Dem frontrunner in 2008 if Gore hadn't lost. Whatever possessed Gore to pick this jerk? I'm glad the little jerk exposed himself for the selfish bastard he is.

4. What a sad, pathetic man. Why the hell do we even listen to him? Kick him out of the caucus, strip
him of his chair, and never say his name again.

This whole nightmare makes me think of what a lot of Republicans said about Paul Wellstone -- they hated his politics, but respected him and worked with him because he believed in what he was saying. Totally the opposite of what we have now -- give, concede, compromise, and all we get is shit.

7. If they didn't have the filbuster the democrats would kick him to the curb
his vote wouldn't be needed. They would have enough with out him. And the democrats never use it themselves any way..so what good is it to us.

11. I was very worried about the public comments Wiener and colleagues made
for this very reason. Politics is a game for people like Lieberman.

12. I'm with you on most of that.
But could you PLEASE delete the bit about "people of the Jewish faith" in that last line? It's borderline antisemitic, and you don't even have to believe in "Heaven and Hell" to believe in right and wrong. That line also insulted athiests, agnostics, and anyone from a non-JudeoChristian faith tradition.

15. No - I'm not deleting that
I'm just making an observation about Jewish beliefs. It's for jerks like Lieberman I wish there is a Hell no matter what your faith.

Sorry if you're offended but no offense to any religion is meant.

17. why does anyone
care what Lieberman thinks? This can be done without him. That is the problem with our Senate! & our Democrats!!! They didn't even discuss "Universal Health Care"!! Most of them are in the pockets of the healthcare industry!! In order to effect change you need to get rid of lobbyists and not allow for huge campaign contributions and gratuities dumped in their lap via special interest.

18. He and his wife have done very well...
by his being such a stumbling block to progress in any area.

He is shocked, shocked mind you, that anyone would accuse the Liebermans of profiting by being a firewall. Think big pharma/big healthcare/big insurance financial backing in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Tar and feathers and a triangular rail to leave Washington on.

21. Giving Lieberman the 60th vote was the stupidest thing Reid has ever done.
Pressuring Reid to give Lieberman/Nelson/Landrieu/Lincoln the 60th vote was the stupidest thing "progressives" have ever done.
