The two faces of Prez. Obama
Edited on Wed Dec-16-09 12:20 AM by rollingrock

December 15, 2009

...Over the weekend, Obama attacked fat-cat investment bankers, telling "60 Minutes" he didn't become president to aid and abet Wall Street -- which, only a year after the financial meltdown and taxpayer bailout, is now scheduled to hand out tens of billions of dollars in bonuses to its bankers and traders.

But the president's meeting yesterday with the CEOs of the largest banks was nearly a lovefest, I'm told by attendees.

After that, people with first-hand knowledge of the sitdown said, it was a heavily scripted affair -- with none of the fireworks Obama displays in public.

...So there were no surprises for the likes of Jaime Dimon of JP Morgan, Lloyd Blankfein of Goldman Sachs, John Mack of Morgan Stanley or Citigroup's Richard Parsons. Said one CEO who attended: "I expected to be taken to the woodshed, but the tone was quite the opposite."

...Said another senior exec with knowledge of the meeting: "The whole thing was so telegraphed that not much was accomplished, other than giving Obama a PR stunt . . . He might have sounded mean on '60 Minutes,' but during the meeting he was a hell of a lot nicer."

during his two terms.

were you complaining about them then?

they were among the first papers to break the Iraqi shoe thrower story, the missing wmds in Iraq, etc.
...all of those things turned out to be true.

7. Probably. I have never seen the NY Post regarded as anything other than a joke on DU
Or off DU. Or anywhere. They're 1 step away from being a full fledged tabloid.

11. That can be said for the MSM as well
at the moment, the biggest news in the mainstream media is the love life of Tiger Woods. before that, it was Michael Jackson.

these tabloid stories always get the most attention by CNN, NBC, CBS, etc.

12. As bad as the MSM is, NY Post is and has been for a long time, WORSE.
They are not, and have not, been accepted on DU as a source for all the years I've been here.

13. Speak for yourself
I didn't know you were the designated spokesperson for DU. are you saying The Post was wrong about the Iraq shoe thrower story too? ...wrong about the missing WMDs?

...were you upset with them when they endorsed Obama for president?

------------

New York Post endorsed Barack Obama for President

15. I certainly didn't tout it as a major accomplishment. It's like an endorsement from Rush

And I am speaking for myself. I personally have never seen anyone on DU use the NY Post as a credible source and not get laughed at. The Enquirer was right about John Edwards. That doesn't mean the Enquirer is viewed as a valid source.

16. Yah.
Like I need to argue with someone over the veracity of material from the ferkin' nypost.

Glad that SCQ chimed in. Often I'm on my own in these idiot arguments.

3. Face it, we were scammed
What a pathetic waste. All the time and dollars I gave to Obama in 2008.

8. All politicians have two faces.
I still don't get why people thought Obama would be any different than your average politician. That's all he is. Another typical politician. Not that there's not some redeeming qualities about him, but still. He's STILL a politician.

10. Maybe I'm just crazy...
But I've had this feeling since early on in his presidency, that President Obama isn't really in power at all, that he believed he would have power but has become nothing but a puppet. That there are powers behind him, corporations, big money interests, etc. that are controlling everything and it doesn't matter who gets into office. I think the real powers threaten politicians with blackmail and perhaps even threaten their lives, and what I see in President Obama is an anger and a hopelessness in him that I didn't see before he took office. I just get the feeling he wasn't a con artist, but that we have ALL been played, including HIM. Does anyone else get that feeling too?
