Then right after the election we are told they will be left alone to expire in 2010. Based on how everything else has "changed" I'm getting the strangest feeling those 1%-ers don't have anything to worry about.

2. I always assumed letting them expire in 2010 was what he meant.
Lot easier to do that than to try and get a rollback passed earlier.

5. I believe they expire at the end of 2010 and the Dems will
let them expire! It's not that far away and by far the easiest way to make it happen!

12. Rather, the GOP was fighting back when Democrats were in power . ..
to make it 60 votes to INCREASE taxes!!!

However, it was done, please notice that whether the GOP is the majority or the minority --

they get thru whatever it is they are after!!!

Also notice that whether the Dems are the majority or the minority -- they don't!!

9. Letting them expire has always been the plan.
"Rolling them back" was just a way to take more credit for it using semantics. It's just campaign rhetoric, not a policy change.

And rather than "he did say/he didn't say" maybe we need politicians signing

PLEDGES . . . so we know what we're actually voting for???

17. I don't recall that.
As for the pledges, I'm not sure that is a good idea. Things change. Public policy is difficult.

19. As I recall it, there was talk during campaign to overturn earlier than called for ....

they walked up to it, didn't see it and walked by it --

Yes, "things change" -- mainly in the sense of "NO CHANGE" --- !!

Public policy is based on corporatism --

Be sure to read Jane Hamsher's article on that --

it's what we're really fighting.

PLEDGES would be one way to hold candidate's feet to the fire --

The main way, however, would be to "bar corporations from any participation whatsoever

in our elections."

10. I'm done with Obama. Don't trust him anymore. His actions (or lack thereof)
speak volumes. This latest LIEbermann/Reid thing - well that CAPPED it for me. He's made a joke of the Nobel Peace Prize too - and I could go on but heck, just see the archives here at DU for the history.

Pfft.

24. Sure, and it's no coincidence that Obama is putting together a panel...
To figure out what to do about the debt, before that expiration. Bend over, it's coming.

I do not need another year to figure out that Barack Obama sold out the American People.
