the bills still hang over my head like a thundercloud
the face in the mirror solemn and dismayed
for a moment i had reason to hope
for a moment i had reason to believe
i had reason to care, something to cheer
the weakness now too much to bare
the corruption now to much to overlook
i can't believe i was so deceived
i don't know why i actually believed
still holding onto my bootstraps
still trying to pull myself up
i'll continue until i succeed
i'll hope i don't get sick again
but for now and until then
the bills still hang over my head like a thundercloud
