Tom Harkin on Rachel Maddow last night talking up the senate bill

No way to polish that turd into a diamond.

The Medical Profit Protection Bill so far:

*NO single payer
*NO public option
*NO expansion of Medicare coverage
*NO cost controls
*NO re-importation of drugs
*NO negotiating for lower drug prices
*Capped coverage for expensive care
*Mandatory purchasing of private insurance (with fines if you don't give the very bastards who caused the problems and paid off
Baucus & Lieberman your money)

Thanx to DUer Shred for the list which I added to ..... Ed Schultz used it on his radio show yesterday

2. Harkin's likening the bill to a good house, not a great one.

I'm tired of our so-called more open-minded Dems
getting on the air selling us this plan that isn't
"a great house" but Harken says, but has a good foundation.

I thought of the banks and their mortgage
plans that screwed homebuyers and left the banks
getting bailed out. I think of all the homes in the
middle of construction empty because they aren't
worth finishing and their value
has diminished. I think of the banks not lending
money.

We've seen this scenario before. We were and are
assured that we could trust that our elected officials are doing the
right thing and that they can build on this bill in
the future. We've heard that before.

We have a Democratic president, majorities in the
House and Senate and an electorate who willingly
voted for change. If not now, it won't happen.

This is the time to get this right. This isn't rocket
science. It's not over our heads. It's common sense
that is needed now and a will to do the right thing.
A will that supercedes where your PAC money
is coming from.

You build us a great house and a great bill
and you will be rewarded.

Kill this bill. Reconcile the best parts in the House
with the votes that are necessary. Forget Joe and
the rest of the blue-balled Dems. Republicans
aren't in the game at all. Expand Medicare with
an AFFORDABLE buy-in that is realistic considering
the numbers who would sign up for it. Make
the changes to Medicare.

Replace Reid. He isn't working for us. Vote him out.
I predict that Obama will be a one-term president,
of his own choice. He'll be left with lots of great
photo-ops and a big asterisk in history for many
reasons. When he's gone, we're left with an
empty house we can't sell.
