2. Thats not fair
Americans arent supposed to have a memory that exceeds the next news cycle.

Now go to your room and watch 10 hours of reality TV to make amends.

6. Some of those are in the House who are not involved in the Senate deliberations.
We will see whether they live up to their commitments or not if this reaches a conference committee.

8. Rockefeller?
According to the video I just watched with Dean on ABC last night, Rockefeller is on board with the bill, even tho there is no public option. This directly contradicts his promise. Some of the others on the list are Senators... Conyers!?!? And the list is not complete. I just googled for 5 minutes to come up with it. I'm sure there's more.

7. Tom Harkin last night sheepishly said he was going to vote for this bill.
When asked could he foresee working on bringing a public option to it next year, he replied that there were too many things on the Senate's plate over the next few years to do that.

Sell out.

I used to really like Tom Harkin.

14. You saw that, too? My jaw dropped. My heart sank like a stone.
We were sold out from the beginning.

Senator Feingold said it today: don't blame Lieberman, this is the bill that Obama wanted from the beginning.

20. Yeah, when I read that I was thinking of the DUers who had expressed similar
sentiments getting piled on and shredded here, but you can't just blow off something like that from Feingold.

I'd be fine with him in the WH, too. :hi:

12. Lack of leadership, holding them accountable to their previous promises.
Ultimately, Obama didn't really want either single payer or a public option.

21. Apparently Lieberman is one of the few members of Congress with a spine
He's not using if for good purposes, but he clearly isn't afraid of the political consequences of his actions.

22. Maybe they thought there would be leadership standing behind them.
Maybe they trusted their party leaders to do the right thing for the people and not for the insurance companies.

Maybe they got pressure they could not say no to.
