The way to win the party back
Is to threaten to withold support, or put the support somewhere else.
Now, advocating the start of a third party, or campaigning to defeat the Democrats is against the DU rules.
So, DU will probably be on the sidelines when angry Democrats start thinking about ways to steal its party back from the clutches of the corporate owners.

I sure hope the owners of DU awake to the reality on the ground. This party simply doesn't represent "people" anymore.
It fucked us over on free trade.
It fucked us over on war. It capitulated on Iraq. I capitulated on the Patriot Act.
We have a majority in the House, Senate and the President, and our agenda is mystifyingly rejected.
Health care has become a fiasco.
The war in Afghanistan is an afront to most of our beliefs.

Read the damn forums for the last eight years. Read the outrage at Bush and Cheney.
Well, we're doing the same thing.

Nobody voted for this. But that's what we're doing.

People need a place to have an honest and full dialogue about what it will take to win back the party.

DU should be that place. But under current rules, it can't be.

1. Infiltrate and Take over the local Dem Parties in your state
that's a better way. You still don't have to vote for Conservadems or donate to them, but you can put yourself in a position to nominate candidates.

3. Precisely. That is the route Democrats have to take if they're

going to alter the direction of the party. It's easiest in caucus states, but possible in other states as well. It takes local people moving into the local Democratic Party organizations and assuming leadership roles. It's easier than you'd think in most cases.

The trouble is, for a lot of people, that you actually have to work at the job. That's asking too much for many folks, so the ones willing to do the work choose the candidates. Wonderful, huh? If you haven't been to a local Democratic Party meeting or caucus, I highly recommend doing so. See what it's like. You'll be amazed at how easy it would be for a small group of dedicated folks to assume control...if they're willing to put in the work.

If they're not willing, then they don't deserve the leadership. It is that simple.

A while back, I wrote an OP on that subject. It's in my journal.
