Obama Promised to Allow Americans to Purchase their Meds From Canada in His Campaign. What nerve!
Edited on Wed Dec-16-09 04:09 PM by David Zephyr
This week, President Obama and his White House staff worked with Democratic Senator Tom Carper of Delaware to shut down the Senate Amendment that would have done what Obma promised the American People in his campaign: the right to re-import their medications from Canada to reduce their costs.

That was his proud campaign promise that he made over and over again in state after state.

Well, not only did he lie in his campaign promise, he worked against what he promised to do. He pushed to make sure Americans could not have that right.

Ponder that.

There's no amount of lipstick that can be put on that ugly pig of truth.

He promised it over and over. And now we know that he lied.

4. I did read it. Thanks for mentioning it. Here's the heart of the commentary.
"Obama supporters are eager to depict the White House as nothing more than a helpless victim in all of this -- the President so deeply wanted a more progressive bill but was sadly thwarted in his noble efforts by those inhumane, corrupt Congressional 'centrists. Right. The evidence was overwhelming from the start that the White House was not only indifferent, but opposed, to the provisions most important to progressives. The administration is getting the bill which they, more or less, wanted from the start -- the one that is a huge boon to the health insurance and pharmaceutical industry. And kudos to Russ Feingold for saying so."

2. More and more he looks like a con man. I feel horrible for asking so many...
...friends and family to work for his election.

3. I'll repeat - Looks more and more like the Obamas ask one another
every morning - "What can we do for fun today?" And he hasn't been in office a year!

32. Merry Christmas Seniors of America. Ooops, I told a fib about your prescription meds being cheaper.
But, Merry Christmas anyway.

This is personal for me. I have co-workers in their 80's and 90's in the desert living in trailers who were counting on Obama.

He lied.

He let them down.

He used his power as President to kill the amendment.

Shame!

5. That and also negotiate Medicare drug prices ... videos and text
Edited on Wed Dec-16-09 04:14 PM by slipslidingaway
Healthcare FLASHBACKS (VIDEO)

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/08/09/flashback-obama-promises_n_254833.html

5th video ...

"First, we'll take on the drug and insurance companies and hold them accountable for the prices they charge and the harm they cause... And then we'll tell the pharmaceutical companies, 'Thanks but no thanks for overpriced drugs'. Drugs that cost twice as much here as they do in Europe and Canada and Mexico. We'll let Medicare negotiate for lower prices. We'll stop drug companies from blocking generic drugs that are just as effective and far less expensive. We'll allow the safe reimportation of low-cost drugs from countries like Canada."

Watch what they do, not what they say.

19. Face in hands.
I remember. It's like they are so jaded and blase and cynical that they think that for people for whom this was and is LITERALLY a life and death situation, that we didn't pay close attention and that we won't remember what was said during the campaign and what we VOTED for!

I'll tell you something I have a lot of deep personal resentment about. It's the cheap emotionalism they deployed during the Town Halls and Meet-ups where people were encouraged to share their personal heart and gut wrenching stories in a modern day version of Queen for a Day to garner votes for the guy who was going to make it all better. I am having a very hard time forgiving that. Showmanship, that's all that was.

21. And the sad part is that many are not paying close attention, for whatever reason,
and that is where the media should be reminding people. For the most part even the so called liberal anchors let too many things slide and use time to perpetuate the division along party lines ... that really helps nobody but the corporations.

I hear you about the stories during the Town Halls and I do not understand how anyone could listen to the people and then make back room deals that go against what was promised.

:(

It's like Condi Rice, when confronted with the fact that Bush's memo from the CIA said Bin Laden Determined to Attack in the U.S. and she replied, "it didn't say he would use airplanes as missiles".

He lied. He worked to kill the possibility of Americans getting their drugs from Canada. And he succeeded.

They used as an excuse that had they passed this it would have hurt the chances of passing the health care reform bill. So they fucked us over, so they could fuck us over again in a few weeks.

24. Hopefully, next time the masses won't be so easily swooned.
I took a long break from this place because the behavior here was cult like.

Anytime anyone questioned his experience, promises, etc they were accused as being angry, bitter or labeled as a disrupter.

I'm not disappointed in him because I didn't expect much, but then again I never do.

I do feel empathy towards all those who feel let down and who worked so hard and donated so much time and money only to feel bamboozled.

I'm a lifelong Democratic voter and I won't be voting any other way, at least until there is another viable option.
