Obama Must Persuade Democrats on Troops, Pelosi Says
Dec. 16 (Bloomberg) -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said President Barack Obama must press his own arguments for sending 30,000 more U.S. troops to Afghanistan because she won’t ask House Democrats to pay for the military escalation.

“The president is going to have to make his case,” Pelosi told reporters today in Washington.

The speaker said persuading House Democrats to approve a $106 billion spending bill in June to finance the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan was “definitely” the hardest vote of her tenure as speaker. She said she told Democrats her request for their support was the last time “I would ever ask them to vote for it.”

Pelosi said she didn’t know when the Obama administration would ask for the money to finance the extra troops, which would bring to almost 100,000 the number of U.S. military personnel in Afghanistan.

1. Anybody else wish she and Reid would just shut up?
Exhibiting the kind of "leadership" they have, I have no idea why anybody listens to them any more.

She's the Democratic House Speaker. That's enough reason to 'listen to her'.

3. Well, he says it's a just war. Isn't that good enough?
Gotta fight them over there so they don't go to Pakistan. Oh, wait.

5. Why?
The White House has offered in the helath care debate that they are "powerless" when it comes to pushing legislation through Congress. Why would they suddenly attempt to use the bully pulpit to get votes when mean old men like Joe Lieberman will just tell them to piss off and stop their legislation in it's tracks. I am sure the Obama people will explain how this situation is "different".
