For Christian DU'ers (Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays)
Is there anyone out there who is Christian democrat who thinks the whole "I say Merry Christmas not Happy Holidays" stuff is BS??

I'm religious.

I don't expect to be catered too. It doesn't bother me to hear Happy Holidays?? I don't see a war on Christmas and I believe it's all right wing propaganda.

Seriously, it's not going to ruin my Christmas if a stranger in a retail stores who doesn't know what holiday I celebrate says happy holidays.

Anyone else??

1. I'm more concerned with the War on Health Care
than the silly holiday stuff.

2. I think DU is capable of taking on more than one subject at a time.
Besides, who wants to read rant after rant about the health care situation with everyone saying pretty much the same thing over and over, or referring to KO or whomever else giving the same rant over and over. What a boring place this would be then.

4. You misunderstand me...
I was not implying anything about this post. I was implying that politicians use the whole 'War on Christmas' meme as a distraction from the real issues facing this country such as health care.

11. I hear ya
I'm trying to post about this and not the shock of the health care bill. I'm very disapointed.

But you know this seems right wing meme...get low info voters doped up on stupid stuff to distract them while they screw them over.

3. I'm a Christian and it bugs the crap out of me that the fundier-than-thous
find some sacred meaning in a retail store using "Merry Christmas" to sell more worthless merchandise.

5. I like giving people a choice.
I tell them, "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or Season's Greetings."

6. I really don't care what people say
I just ask they not try to shove their beliefs down my throat and I, in turn, will not shove mine down theirs.

7. The other thing I don't get about the poutrage is this:
"Happy Holidays" could mean "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year," for example.

8. Just say "Have a good one".
That covers whatever the recipient wants it to. Will probably piss off the Rightwingnuts anyway.

A twofer!

12. I am a nonbeliever, and I return either 'Merry Christmas' or 'Happy
Holidays' when anyone says one of them to me.

Generally, it is not given in the middle of a stampede for some computer game, but rather as a greeting upon meeting or departing. It doesn't hurt, and is generally pleasant.

Merry Christmas, holiday

14. It's not just "merry christmas" that offends me!
I am sick of these fanatical, right-wing, Republican, religious nuts shoving "merry christmas" down my throat. As a devout atheist and child of the world I am totally against this insulting and offensive phrase. But I'd really like to take it a step further. I am an American citizen, but frankly, like many here I hate the U.S. Not surprisingly, I get offended when people wish me a happy 4th of July. Why the hell do I want to celebrate that day? Maybe a lot of people in this country celebrate the 4th but I DO NOT, so don't tell me I need to have a "happy 4th".

5. "Hate" is a strong word......I would encourage you not to "hate" anyone. Besides, it's better for you.

20. I'm not a christian
Or religious and 'Merry Christmas' doesn't offend me at all.

I try to respond graciously when someone says it because it makes no damn difference to me what people choose to celebrate or why they take a holiday on this particular occassion and snark for the sake of snark is.....hardly worth the effort.
