What pisses you off the most about the HCR debacle? |
|
Edited on Wed Dec-16-09 07:42 PM by WT Fuheck
The abject failure of the Democrats,
or
The dishonesty, since the Senate bill is pretty much what Obama agreed with during his secret meetings with Pharma and the insurance companies way back in January and February, and all this "drama" was just a show.

For believing politicians are public servants. They're only in it for themselves. We're basically on our own. If we're going to change things, we might want to grab onto the coattails of Dean and Gore - and build a powerful grassroots. That is the only way this bullshit is going to stop. All the voting booth does is provide the corporate fat cats with more pigs to stuff.

I personally thought that meaninful HCR was a bit too ambitious right now, but I did let myself get suckered in to the idea that something significant might just happen.
We need more Democratic representatives to do that, and if the economy recovers, we get them. If not, we don't.

And as heinous as this bill is, I don't know if killing it (like I suggested last night) would be good. Jesus, this is torture. We definitely need more Democratic/Liberal representation in Congress, but unfortunately, stuff like this keeps people at home in the mid-terms when we need them the most. The Senate doesn't have a nice majority to work with like the House does, and so it appears that either the WH is bending over to the conservative Dems (or we basically get jack shit), or Dems aren't fighting, and that pisses people off. The truth is, we have too many DINOs who just don't share our views of reform. I have to say it's been real frustrating to watch, but the truth is, we need more actual liberals in Congress before we will see the significant legislation we crave.

I expect that from Republicans, because that's what they are: liars. It defines them.
I keep hoping some Democrats are better than that, but very few truly are. I had high hopes for Obama, but he's a disappointment.

It would be different if this was about some idiotic non-issue such as impeaching Clinton or declaring an official language of the U.S. or something. But this is a life and death issue for millions of people and they could care less.

I had an ugly suspicion all along when those Harvard doctors, who represented single payer, were not only not allowed into the committee hearings that were supposed to hear all sides, but then were arrested when they tried to demand their right to be there to present their side in a true democratic process.

for SHIT!
Reform, my a$$!
It was a welfare package for Pharma and the health care/insurance companies.
Today, the DSCC called me for a donation. In the past couple of years, I QUIT sending money to the Democratic Party or any committee affiliated with the Democratic Party. I told the caller that if and when a Democrat has enough balls to start impeaching bu$h/cheney or investigating them, forget ever getting another nickel from me. I give my money to progressive candidates whom I believe will serve the interests of the people. "you (the dems) don't represent me. You're just another receiver of big money bribes. The people will remember this." I only support PROGRESSIVE CANDIDATES. That's how voters will gain control of the party if the voters figure that out.

|
any Repuke, other than Olympia Snow, would ever vote for a success for Obama. That is the way it is going to be all through his term. Because neocons are in full throttle campaign mode and will never allow any success for the Obama White House.
As a Canadian I must say I find it frustrating Americans on this board don't seem to focus on that. Lieberman is a neocon. They are all acting like neocons now. It is just disgusting for the minority party to do that (and they will do it over and over again). They did it to Bill Clinton in the mid 1990s and they obviously like being disruptive to legislation so they will do it any time a Democrat is in power until they are held accountable for such a tactic.

all are just smoke screens that Obama has hidden behind.
He's either a liar or an ineffectual loser. In either case he's a coward.
But he sure talks purty.
I had high hopes for him. I was a fool.
The republicans are the enemies of America. The blue dogs, DLCers and "centrists" are too. That leaves about ten people in DC who are worth a lukewarm squirt. Man I hope I'm wrong...
