Generosity Leads To Return Of Woman's Stolen Car
WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― A local woman's job-threatening misfortunes were solved by kind gestures from a complete stranger and the owner of a tow company.
CBS13 aired the story of Judith Walker's stolen car, which was taken from the driveway of her home but recovered a few days later from the California Highway Patrol.
It was towed away by the Dollar Tow Company, and Judith found out that she owed them more than $300 in towing and storage. By law, she was responsible for the bill but she could not afford it.
Time was working against her: She owed an extra $55 a day in storage costs, and her car could have been sold if she didn't come up with the cash. As workers at a temp agency, Judith and her daughter Natalie's jobs were in danger without reliable transportation.
After our story aired Tuesday night, the CBS13 newsroom was flooded with calls and e-mails from people wanting to help. Justin Van Winkle of Elk Grove stepped forward and volunteered to pay Judith's fees.

But before he even had the chance to pay, the owner of Dollar Company graciously agreed to waive the fees.
"I paid out of pocket so that the revenue still went to the company so they could continue to pay my employees," Terry Warford said.
